Provide web and applications solutions for an institute of higher learning within the Defense Department in the Nation's Capital. Work in a dynamic environment with a technically diverse application development team. A strong combination of web, applications, networks database experience will be most helpful, as solutions and requirements intermix across public and private networks, offering great opportunity for advanced features and enhancements. Selectee will be accomplished at Solution Development and Delivery; Understands technical and logical database design; Creates prototypes for client engagements; Designs, codes, and test technical solutions; Identifies system deficiencies and recommends solutions; Assists in the completion of projects and development deadlines and schedules; Understands the necessity of and contributes to coding standards; Understanding of the security requirements of a Department of Defense network, and the unique nature of a University environment.
Technical skills
- Intermediate level knowledge of Object Oriented Programming, JavaScript, HTML/CSS
- Intermediate level knowledge of ColdFusion, PHP, Java
- Strong troubleshooting skills Intermediate application performance / tuning assessment and implementations skills
- Experience with Content Management Systems a strong plus.
- Experience with Remedy, BlackBoard, SharePoint desired.
- Knowledge of .NET, WebTrends, WebEvent, Resource Scheduler a plus.
- Understanding of common delivery and communication protocols: HTTP/HTTPS, SSL, SMTP, UDP, RMI, TCP/IP.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems or equivalent experience in the software development field, or High School diploma with at least 6 years of related experience.
- Active DOD Top Secret Clearance.
- IAT-II or higher Information Assurance certification (such as Security+) is required.
- Experience reviewing and updating requirements and/or functional specifications
- An understanding of Section 508, Black-box testing and UML SDLC is a plus.
- Structured programming experience or coursework a plus
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. The position requires constant communication with colleagues and partners
- Must be detail-oriented, self-organized, be committed to quality and be capable of tracking multiple issues simultaneously
- Candidate must have mentoring and guidance skills to provide oversight and direction to contractors and junior members of the team
- Strong time management skills
