Intern - Pork Procurement
SUMMARY: As a Hog Buyer Intern, you will be responsible for handling livestock. Throughout the 10 to 12 week period you will have hands on with sorting, counting, weighing, tattooing, and penning of all hogs with minimum stress in a hog yard environment. You will be booking loads for local hog deliveries and keeping an effective book schedule for accuracy in maintaining plant slaughter operations. You will have the opportunity to train in grade and yield kill sheet information, weight docks, and other buying procedures. Upon completion of your internship, you will have acquired a direct understanding of the requirements involved in purchasing a continual supply of quality raw material. You will also fully comprehending Tyson's buying practices that can position you well for advancement in becoming a Livestock Buyer. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Students will be sourced from a 2 or 4 year college or university program. Must be in good standing. Experience: Previous swine experience preferred. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must. Other requirements: Must be highly motivated in running a successful business.
