Animal Health and Food Safety Business Unit
The Life Technologies, Animal Health and Food Safety Business Unit is part of the Applied Sciences Business Platform. The business unit offers leading products and services designed to help producers test for pathogens. The company’s family of next-generation molecular tools and easy-to-use instruments for PCR analysis provide the complete workflow needed to rapidly monitor food safety and the health of production animals worldwide.
Intern Project and Responsibilities
The internship project for 2012 will be assist with all global marketing programs for the Animal Health and Food Safety Business Unit. Two specific areas of focus will be; oversight and execution of global communications between the business unit teams and commercial teams and digital marketing.
The intern will be reporting to the Senior Market Development Manager.
Responsibilities will include:
Web Application Page:
- Analyzes of current web site usage
- Gathering of content from Product Management
- Write and organize draft copy and layout for Life Tech Food safety and Animal health pages.
- Monitor website and develop plans for improvement
Social Media Community:
- Assist in development of social media community
- Monitor usage and develop plans for improvement
Communications to Field Reps
- Responsible for communications between business teams and commercial teams: including monthly global newsletter and intranet (LifeLink groups) updates
- Upload sales literature and documents to shared web site - Documenteum
- Write email signatures for new product launches
- Work with internal Marketing to develop “Apps” for commercial teams’ iPad.
Assist as needed with execution of all marketing campaigns for 2012.
Degrees/Majors
- Primary: Business Administration Major in Marketing
- Secondary: College of Communication: Advertising Focus
Skills/Knowledge
- Digital Media Basic understanding and member of current social media groups
- Internet Marketing
- Basics of Marketing: Four Ps, Segmentation
- Writing skills
- Works with very little direction from supervisor
- Science background not necessary but helpful
