Intern recruitment

Description of firm and position:

Our firm is an investment banking boutique specializing in marketing illiquid alternative investment funds (venture capital, private equity, mezzanine, distressed debt, and real estate) to institutional investors in the U.S. and overseas.  Our firm is SEC-registered and a FINRA member.  We have offices in Atlanta, New York, and Los Angeles and are known for marketing high quality fund offerings sought after by institutional investors.  We are a third-party placement agent; i.e. we do not offer or manage our own investment funds.  We are dedicated to serving the needs of sophisticated institutional investors and assisting them at all stages of their decision process relating to each investment offering that we bring to market.  Our investor network and relationships include endowments, foundations, corporate pensions, public pensions, insurance companies, funds-of-funds, private banks, trust companies, and large family offices.

The position is focused on working with the Fortress Group team to support the firm’s private equity fund placement mandates.  This will include, among other duties, a combination of institutional investor research and market research.  The position is geared towards individuals looking to build a career in investment banking, asset management, private equity, or a similar field/career path. (For exceptional performance, the firm may offer the opportunity to stay on as a full-time Analyst after graduation.)

Primary responsibilities:

• Update and maintain the firm’s proprietary investor database based on investor and market research from numerous sources.

• Conduct research on the investment criteria and portfolio objectives of various types of institutional investors (i.e., insurance companies, pension funds, endowments, and foundations) with allocations to alternative investments.

Qualifications:

• Student pursuing a bachelor’s degree, preferably with a major in Finance, Economics, or Accounting.

• Excellent research abilities with superior analytical and written and verbal communication skills required.

• Mature and professional candidate with strong work ethic, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task.

• Ability to operate in a high pressure, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to show initiative and self-direction.

• Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications required.
