Our Americas Distribution Group, located in Stamford, CT, is currently seeking an Internal Sales Manager responsible for the overall leadership and management of an elite Internal Wholesaler desk. The Sales Manager will manage 23 Internal Sales professionals responsible for supporting and selling Mutual Funds, Separately Managed Accounts and Closed End Funds to National Broker Dealer and Independent Firms.
Key Responsibilities Duties Include, but not Limited to:
- Evaluate the quality of wholesaling support by monitoring outbound calls on a regular basis and provide frequent coaching to enhance skills and territory management abilities
- Ensure effective communication between Wholesalers and Internal Wholesalers aimed at facilitating coordinated sales efforts and cohesive strategies
- Implement coordinated efforts with Legg Mason affiliates, Channel Sales, Marketing, Product, National Accounts, Compliance, firm home offices, and Senior Management in an effort to work as efficiently and effectively as possible
- Help recruit, train, and coach team to ensure core competencies and continual professional growth
- Support the development of sales skills among team members and ensure ongoing enhancement of industry and product knowledge
- Conduct quarterly reviews which focus on developmental needs and career goals
- Facilitate a dynamic sales environment and maintain high levels of motivation among staff
- Interview and evaluate prospective talent for various business units within Legg Mason
- Problem resolution troubleshooting
- Compensation management
Ideal Qualifications Experience:
- 5-7 years of financial industry experience in a sales capacity with mutual funds, managed accounts, and closed end funds
- Extensive knowledge of financial markets and securities, as well as ability to assess market trends and identify educational opportunities for the team
- Demonstrated leadership characteristics including building effective teamwork and team cohesion, building relationships, influencing positively
- Outstanding energy, focus, and drive to achieve results
- Ability to interact effectively and build strong partnerships at all levels of organization
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, organization, and time management skills
- Demonstrated sales and management skills
- FINRA Series 7, 66, and 24
