SUMMARY OF POSITION
The International Accountant role is a broad-based senior accounting position in a rapidly growing software company. Areas of responsibility and involvement include, but are not limited to, the period close function for all foreign entities, application of accounting policies/procedures in accordance to each foreign entity’s local statutory requirements along with adjustments required for US GAAP compliance for corporate consolidation. This position is responsible for the monthly financial reporting and analysis of all intercompany transactions for multiple domestic and international entities while accurately recording and supporting all foreign exchange rate fluctuations, both transactional and transitional. International travel is required for this position. Travel frequency and length of visit is dependent upon the organization’s needs. Assist in accounting software integrations and project-related efforts.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Timely and accurate closing of the company’s accounting systems and records by performing monthly general ledger close duties across multiple international subsidiaries:
- Conduct account analysis and prepare monthly account entries and reconciliations from foreign trail balances
- Prepare and maintain clear, thoughtful documentation in support of conclusions reached
- Prepare and record monthly journal entries resulting from account analysis and reconciliations while maintaining documentation supporting disposition of journal entries.
- A solid understanding of software revenue recognition and the ability to verify and test the validity of deferred revenue and recognizable revenue reported for each closing period.
- Including journal entries and reconciliations required for Foreign STAT to US GAAP
- Conduct account analysis, prepare monthly entries and reconciliations for all intercompany activities
- Meet targets for monthly close deadlines through proactive coordination with accounting personnel and resources outside the accounting department
- Proactively research, understand, and communicate activity in support of management’s review of the financial statements as well as other financial analysis and reporting
- Prepare financial and statistical reports for management on a regular and ad hoc basis
- Assist management with any future company mergers and/or acquisitions.
- Analyze financial and statistical variances between actual, prior period, budget and forecast amounts
- Assist with the creation, implementation and application of company policies and procedures
- Prepare audit support schedules and assist in gathering any requested documentation.
- Other projects as deemed necessary and assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in Accounting or Finance, CPA, a plus
- Minimum of 3 years of applicable experience working within International Accounting
- Mix of public and private accounting experience a plus
- Knowledge of GAAP, internal control systems, and financial reporting and analysis
- Experience with or solid exposure to SOP 97-2, EITF 08-1, and SaaS revenue models
- Strong Excel skills required
- International Travel is required.
- Ability to think, act and work independently with high attention to detail and strong problem solving skills
- Aptitude to complete tasks with a high degree of accuracy utilizing strong analytical and organizational skills
- Flexible approach to changing priorities but also capable of taking ownership of tasks through completion
- Communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate with colleagues, vendors, and other business contacts
- Knowledge of financial reporting tools such as Intacct GL system a plus
- Knowledge of Saleforce.com a plus
