CAREER OPPORTUNITY
MeadWestvaco (MWV) is looking for an International Tax Analyst that will perform all U.S. international tax compliance and prepare the international tax portion of MWV’s U.S. quarterly and year-end tax provision for its financial statements. The International Tax Analyst will work closely with the International Tax Director, International Tax Manager, International Tax Analyst, and outside consultants to provide MWV with innovative tax planning and compliance services. The International Tax Analyst position will also support U.S. and non-domestic income tax audits.
HOW YOU WILL IMPACT MWV
- Preparation of 5471’s, 8858’s and appropriate attachments for the proper filing of the U.S. Federal Income Tax Return.
- Respond to regular tax inquiries from internal employers and departments.
- Coordination of the tax and financial accounting compliance software with the Domestic and Tax Accounting teams and subsequent development of process improvements in the tax packages and compliance processes.
- Calculation and tracking of significant tax attributes of the Company’s international entities including EP, tax basis, Section 987 FX exposures and tax credits.
- Coordination of Subpart F and other book-tax differences in connection with financial reporting and financial planning.
- Provide the leadership to ensure the proper levels of support for and the involvement of the business units and corporate functional areas for income tax accounting matters.
- Direct the preparation of the Company’s income tax provision and associated analytical documents related to FAS 109 and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance requirements.
- Establish strong communication channels with Corporate Controller’s Office to ensure timely and consistent tax accounting reporting.
- Responsible for the development of quarterly estimated and actual annual effective tax rates using the TaxStream system, the adequacy of tax account reconciliations and deferred tax account roll forward analysis.
- Ensure the accuracy of all tax related research and data.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- Bachelor’s degree required, CPA and/or advanced degree a plus.
- Three to five years’ experience; preferably with a public accounting firm or a large U.S. multinational corporation.
- Knowledge and experience in FAS 109, Accounting for Income Tax, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements a real plus.
- PC proficient with Excel experience, required.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Detailed and analytical in nature with the ability to diligently pursue tax related issues.
- High ethical standards combined with demonstrated ability to act as an ambassador of the Company.
