Position Description:
The Morgan Stanley Tax Department currently has a career opportunity in New York City for a Tax Manager in the International Tax Compliance, Planning and Provision Group.
The Morgan Stanley Tax Department is searching for a tax Manager who will be responsible for US tax compliance for non-US entities, analysis of effective tax rate impact of foreign earnings, and US international tax planning. The position provides a unique platform to develop a detailed understanding of Morgan Stanley's businesses while increasing functional and practical knowledge of US income tax compliance, planning, accounting and reporting concepts.
Core responsibilities will include:
• Manage compliance related issues and tax planning analysis for a portion of Morgan Stanley's foreign subsidiaries and their hybrid subsidiaries in various non-US jurisdictions.
• Prepare quarterly analysis for the assigned entities for tax provision purposes to reflect current planning scenarios under consideration and capturing any significant U.S. tax accounting adjustments.
• Analyze income tax accounting impact of transactions
• Review and prepare Form 5471's, 8865's, 8858's and any other Form or statement required on the US Tax Return in relation to non-US subsidiaries and activities
• Gather data for purposes of U.S. information reporting with regard to CFCs, CFPs and minority investments; Ensure that any tax law changes or structural changes are appropriately reported on the relevant US tax returns.
• Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns
• Assist in all U.S. tax audit related matters.
• Comply with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
Skills Required:
• Bachelors or Masters degree in tax or accounting; coursework in taxation a plus
• CPA preferred
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in (i) US international income tax compliance, (ii) income tax accounting and/or (iii) corporate accounting in a public accounting firm or corporate environment
• Financial services background preferred
• Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills, including the ability to simplify and communicate complex business information
• Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel
• Strong time management and multi-tasking skills
• Superior work ethic with high level of accountability
• Staff management and development experience
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
