Intern Responsibilities:
As a member of Morgan Stanley's Real Estate Asset Management team, the individual will play an integral role working with all senior staff members in fulfilling specific property and/or portfolio level responsibilities. Responsibilities will focus on providing analytical support for the asset management team utilizing Dyna and Argus cash flow and Excel software, business plan modeling, MRI implementation and support, legacy asset support and monthly variance analysis.

The internship will give you a realistic view of asset management as you spend your time working on a variety of transactions and business development initiatives. You will build a strong foundation in the basic skills of financial problem solving, negotiation and execution, and gain experience in marketing the firm's products and services effectively.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Cash flow analysis (Sensitivity analyses, update quarterly cash flow models, perform annual asset valuations, in-depth valuation and hold/sell analyses)
• Review and assist in preparation of budgets and preparation of strategic plans
• Prepare quarterly client reports
• Analyze and review leases
• Work directly with asset managers, leasing and property management teams on approximately 30 - 35 assets
• Coordinate and review third-party independent appraisals as wells as preparation of internal valuations
• Participate in ad hoc analyses on a national basis
• Assist with acquisition and disposition due diligence and asset financings

Skills Required:
Skills/Experience/Education Required:
• Working towards an undergraduate degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Real Estate or engineering/physics or with appropriate course work in accounting, finance and real estate acceptable
• Strong analytical and computer skills; Excel required
• Working knowledge of cash flow modeling a plus;
• Knowledge of property-level financial statements and basic accounting a plus
• Strong communication skills given the need to communicate effectively in oral and written form with clients, property staff, colleagues and members of the real estate community
• Strong team player

• Proactive; self motivated and goal oriented
• Ability to effectively prioritize handle multiple tasks
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and in a team environment
