Internship Vacancy recruitment

Employing 25,000 people globally in offices around the world, we have the global reach and distribution power to meet the needs of issuers and investors in all the major financial markets.

Our distinctive business model has cemented our position as a world leader in the industry. But we’re still relatively young and extremely ambitious. Founded just 14 years ago, we’re still growing year on year and continually pursuing excellence in everything we do. With a pioneering spirit, intellectual rigour and an uncommonly collaborative approach, we put the needs of clients and stakeholders at the heart of every decision we make. Even against the backdrop of ever-changing financial markets, we’re continuing to expand, providing our clients with a more comprehensive service than ever. Our 2008 acquisition of Lehman Brothers’ US broker-dealer business has added MA and cash equities expertise to our portfolio – a clear example of the bold thinking that defines our organisation.

Interns joining us quickly discover that Barclays Capital is a different sort of investment bank. Our ethos is simple. We expect excellence, every second of every day and in every area of the firm. A true meritocracy, we have a flat structure and reward talent and innovation over position and tenure. So as you might expect, we have very high expectations of our interns. That’s why we give them as much responsibility as they can handle right from the start. Wherever you join us, you’ll join as a valued member of your team, working alongside senior managers across departments, and even around the world. All of which means your core skills must include an international outlook.

Internships
Most of our internships last for 8-10 weeks over the summer, although we do have off-cycle opportunities depending on business need. In all cases, you’ll find yourself at the heart of the action. You’ll gain real experience in a real role, working on anything from live transactions and marketing projects to research and analysis, according to the business area you join. As well as benefiting from extensive training before and during the programme, you’ll have regular opportunities to network with intern colleagues, recent graduates and senior members of the firm.

Opportunities

We have internship opportunities in areas right across the firm, including:

Compliance, Corporate Communications, Finance, Global Financial Risk Management, Human Resources, Investment Banking, Event and Roadshow Marketing, Operations, Prime Services, Quantitative Analytics, Research, Sales, Structuring, Technology and Trading.

How to apply

Our deadline for internships is 31st December 2011. We recruit on a rolling basis so be sure to get your application in early. We’re looking for highly numerate, analytical individuals who have strong English language skills (both written and verbal). Knowledge of more than one European language is an advantage for some roles.
