Inventory Accountant

Job Purpose:

This position plays a pivotal role in the Logistics business by providing Accounting Services, maintaining excellent relationships within the Business. The role also has responsibility for the US GAAP closing.

Possible areas of responsibility are varied including:

Lead for US GAAP closing for all inventory related entities.

Responsible for monitoring all inventory transaction in the general ledger.

Update and maintenance of standard costs in the system.

Monitor and manage discrepancies due to lost/damaged and incorrectly booked inventory.

Explain variances between standard cost and purchase costs to management.

Ensure Sales/Cost of sales/margin variances are explained in a timely manner to the Managers.

The individual will also need good knowledge on Capital Accounting.

Ability to differentiate between Capital and Expense cost.

Responsible for all Fixed Assets ledgers for all entities in EAME.

This would also entail moving construction in process to the Fixed asset ledger when asset goes in service.

Experience/Skills required:

•The Inventory and Capital Accounting Supervisor will demonstrate knowledge and ability to independently handle accounting issues.

•Requires relevant accounting experience and recognised accounting qualification. Candidates must demonstrate high levels of initiative, good judgment and strong organisation skills.

•Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills are required.

•Good supervisory skills as the position will have direct reports.

•Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills are necessary for this role as there will be a high level of process improvement required.

Summary:

Analyse financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability or other financial activities within an organisation.

Education/Experience:

Qualified accountant

Skills and Competencies:

Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail and critical thinking.

Ability to work independently and manage ones time.

Ability to apply accounting and mathematical principles to work as needed.

Ability to analyse business trends and project future revenues and expenses.

Knowledge of European and company policies, procedures and regulations as related to accounting.

Previous experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and any other related accounting software.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare, examine or analyse accounting records, financial statements or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.

Develop, maintain and analyse budgets, prepare periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.

Develop, implement, modify and document record-keeping and accounting systems. Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting or other tax requirements
