THE REQUIREMENTS
- Monitors inventory and places orders to ensure proper stock levels are maintained. Confers with branch, district, and corporate management on key inventory aspects regarding product selectivity, quantity and quality of products being purchased. Identifies cost saving opportunities and recommends actions to management.
- Works closely with suppliers to obtain special deals and to correct supplier deficiencies in service and delivery schedules. Keeps informed of pending price increases, new products, and products that will become obsolete, taking the appropriate actions necessary to optimize opportunities and minimize inventory risks.
- Works with the Cost Analysts to ensure proper pricing as well as vendor and item set up in SAP.
- Reviews forecasts, planner performance, overstock and M6.05 reports, as well as other investment tools, to maintain proper inventories.
- Eliminates excess and unwanted merchandise by working with suppliers and National Product Managers.
- Attends product and procedure training to attain certification as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Education: Bachelor's Degree in business related field preferred.
Experience: Level I – Must have ability to purchase and proactively manage multiple complex supplier lines for multiple geographic locations. Working knowledge of PC-Windows. Minimum one year of experience in customer service, and/or purchasing procedures. Good communication, math and negotiation skills.
Level II – Consistently demonstrates good inventory management and customer service skills as well as adherence to company policy. Intermediate working knowledge of PC-Windows. Enhanced communication, math and negotiation skills required.
Level III – Consistently demonstrates excellent inventory management customer service skills as well as adherence to company policy. Proficient working knowledge of PC-Windows required. Superior communication, math and negotiation skills required. Must also demonstrate the ability to manage projects and instruct others.
Knowledge: PC-Windows proficiency is required.
Skills: Excellent customer service skills. Good communication skills. Basic mathematical skills. Strong negotiation skills.
Abilities: Ability to purchase and pro-actively manage multiple complex supplier lines for multiple geographic locations.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE
8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; Some overtime required
