Inventory Planning/Purchasing Manager

 

 

Summary

 

           A highly visible, hands-on planning and purchasing role that will manage forecasting and inventory requirements for fabrics, trims, components required for production and finished goods sourced from vendors.

 

           Collaborates with other members of the inventory planning/purchasing, merchandising, marketing, design, operations, production and customer support teams to achieve these sales, in-stock and service objectives.

 

 

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

 

           Analyzes and forecasts preseason demand at the SKU level of detail while anticipating new product and seasonal demand variations.

                     Make recommended adjustments to forecast and inventory targets based on changes in demand and market trends in season.

 

           Places purchase orders, acknowledge ship dates with vendor, track production and insure on time delivery of and finished goods to support sales plan and insure highest level of customer service while limiting overstock risk.

 

           Maintains replenishment model for assigned vendors and SKU’s within our Lawson system.

 

           Works with merchandising and marketing teams to support promotions with appropriate SKU inventory.

 

           Assists in resolving receiving discrepancies, and work with Accounts Payables Team, as needed.

 

           Monitors product lines for underperforming SKU’s and recommend changes to the assortment to Merchandising.

 

           Partners with merchants in determining and executing markdown plans on finished goods and raw materials.

 

           Manages clear and effective communication with vendors and internal partners.

 

           Assists with physical inventory and cycle counting, as necessary.

 

           Conducts and provides analysis of demand, margin, ad-ratio on styles managed.

 

           Support the company’s culture and business mission by always putting needs of customers first.

 

           Complete special projects and perform analysis as requested and as required.

 

 

Position Requirements

 

           Bachelors degree, or equivalent, and minimum of 5 years of planning, purchasing or financial analysis experience.

 

           Prefer experience with Lawson M3 ERP System.

 

           Command of retail math concepts, applications and statistical analysis.

 

           Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.

 

           Detail oriented, with excellent problem solving and follow-through skills.

 

           Strong verbal and written communication skills.

 

           Ability to work productively in a team environment.

 

           Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including expert capability with Excel.

 

           Strong knowledge of demand and inventory planning process.

 

           Background in forecasting, procurement and planning.

 

           Experienced with MRP functionality.

 

           Knowledge of key inventory performance metrics, turns, margin contributions, etc.

 

           Experience in managing end of life cycle and absolute inventory.
