INVESTMENT ACCOUNTANT recruitment
The role holder will be expected to maintain, control and develop the financial accounting requirements of Authorised unit trust funds.
Core Responsibilities:
- Produce the Report and Accounts for authorised unit trusts in compliance with the Statement of Recommended Practice issued by Financial Services Authority.
- Communicate and liaise closely with the Trustee, Depositary, External Auditors, Legal Department, Fund Managers and Marketing Department to ensure annual audits of unit trusts are carried out as efficiently as possible and comply with current accounting standards.
- Monitor the unit cost sheet for all Funds at the xd point to ensure that the Income has been correctly accounted.
- Complete corporation tax and deferred tax computations to determine the tax liability of the Fund for incorporation into the financial statements and submission to the Inland Revenue.
- Determine the distribution per unit payable to unit holders taking into account all accounting and tax adjustments and reconcile to the estimate included in the xd price.
- Ensure that financial reporting systems relating to unit trusts are controlled, reviewed and developed to ensure that all financial reporting requirements are being delivered to an acceptable standard.
- Provide support assistance together with financial and accounting assistance for all launches of new funds.
- Facilitate the transfer of assets by “In Specie” transfer enabling large clients to invest or divest without the need to liquidate the investments, in accordance with FSA requirements.
- Publication of 30/40 unit trust accounts per annum has intensified the need to complete the accounts to strict deadlines without sacrificing quality.
- It is necessary to keep abreast of the latest accounting developments, through courses, technical literature and updates.
- Ensure that the Unit Pricing reflects all accounting and tax requirements and is in compliance with the FSA SORP.
Core Skills:
- An ability to prioritise work effectively and chase up work.
- Good communication skills are essential.
Core Requirements:
- University Degree.
- Ideally a fully qualified ACCA but will consider part-qualified with good appropriate work experience.
