Investment Analyst
Role Summary:
As an analyst primarily working within the Fixed Income team you will be focused on the management, growth and strategy of the fixed income fund mandate including quantitative and qualitative investment analysis and decision making into various parts of the capital structure of corporates and other asset classes focusing on maximising risk adjusted returns.
Whilst focused on driving investment opportunities and performance, you will have the opportunity to work with the leadership team to identify growth opportunities as they present. You will be engaged in new product initiatives and actively participate in the growth of the fixed income capability.

The longer term strategic intent is to continue to build out the range of investment capabilities with a focus on maximising risk adjusted returns.
As a result, we are seeking a highly motivated and engaged individual that is keen to actively play a key role in the growth success of this mandate.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Initially playing a supporting but critical role with the generation, research and provision of recommendations to the Investment Committee on direct investments and 3 party investment managers.
- Market surveillance both domestic and international corporate bond and other markets. Including the provision of market updates on macro, regional, sector/industry and company specific ‘state(s) of play’ and the resultant positioning of the investment strategy/portfolio construction/management of existing investments. This includes fostering relationships with various capital market originations and sell side functions.
- Various activities around the day-to-day management of the various fixed income funds, including:
- Researching and identifying investment opportunities in the fixed income universe
- Investment due diligence: Financial statement and company analysis, company and market research, credit risk assessment and investment valuation
- Preparation of investment papers and recommendations for the Investment Committee to opine on
- Ad-hoc and regular fund reporting and analysis
- Fund due diligence: cash flow modelling, investment strategy: stress and scenario evaluation, portfolio monitoring
- Assisting with the execution of investment decisions and trades across the portfolios
- Actively participating in the ongoing strategic development of the fixed income investment platform
- Preparation of presentations, road shows and internal and public market documents
- Other ad hoc duties as they arise
To be considered for the role:
- 1-2 years experience in as an analyst within the financial services sector,ideally from a funds management, financial markets, transaction services or corporate finance function.
- A genuine interest to pursue a career focused on investing in corporate debt and other debt related asset classes.
- Experience in:
- financial statement analysis
- building, maintaining and analysing cash flow models
- quantative and qualitative financial analysis and critical thinking including verbal/ written insights/reporting
- evaluating credit risk, analysing capital and corporate structures and various fixed income products and their associated derivative products will be viewed positively but not essential
- Exceptional academic results in a bachelor degree in commerce, finance, law, actuarial studies, engineering, science (mathematics and physics) or a combined degree
- High levels of motivation, drive and initiative
- The ability to quickly grasp new and complex concepts
- Highly numerate with superior analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Sound judgment and decision making
- Strong problem solving skills
- Robust understanding of Excel, Word and Powerpoint. Some experience working with Bloomberg, Excel and/or Access is a plus
