Hong Kong Firm Profile:
The Hong Kong-based team currently consists of 9 staff, including 6 Investment Analysts providing Asia ex-Japan equity recommendations across Orbis’ suite of funds. As the Hong Kong office was established in 2011, the successful candidate will join at an exciting time as we continue to develop our regional investment capabilities.
Job Description:
Investment Analysts conduct fundamental, bottom-up research to identify and recommend stocks for purchase based on return prospects over a three- to five-year horizon. They will analyse industries and companies, monitor industry trends, and meet with senior management. Investment Analysts do not have to convince the Portfolio Manager to buy their stocks; instead reward and progression are based on their independent investment decisions. We are looking for an Investment Analyst who is as enthusiastic about investing as we are. He or she will have the opportunity to make a significant impact from day one.
Responsibilities:
- Perform rigorous, bottom-up analysis; develop independent, fact-driven perspective on individual stocks
- Meet and/or speak with senior management teams, suppliers, customers, etc.
- Author written reports that clearly articulate an investment case, including the appropriate supporting evidence and quantitative analysis
- Debate stock recommendations with other Orbis investment professionals
Qualifications:

- Sound judgment and ability to think independently
- Self-motivation and ability to thrive in an unstructured environment
- Willingness to compete
- 2-5 years of relevant experience from one of the leading investment banks, private equity firms, or management consultancies.
- Mandarin and/or Cantonese language skills a plus
