Investment Analyst – Fixed Income recruitment
Business Overview: Prudential Investment Management (PIM) is one of the largest investment managers in the U.S. with $637 billion of assets under management. Prudential Fixed Income (PFI) is the public fixed income business within PIM. PFI has over $332 billion of assets under management which include government securities, mortgages, corporate and high yield bonds, bank loans and emerging market securities. PFI manages investments for a wide variety of clients, including public and corporate pension funds, institutional investors, retail investors and Prudential's general account.
Description: The Investment Analyst role in PFI is a three-year assignment that is designed to rotate among several analytically oriented areas within the Portfolio Analysis Group. These rotations provide exposure to many of our products and processes, such as the Fixed Income Trading Desks, Risk Management, Portfolio Management, Economics and Strategy and Hedge Funds. The analyst works with senior analysts, risk managers, and portfolio managers to analyze performance data, monitor portfolio positioning and risk exposures, model benchmarks, collect and prepare market data and assist in the communication of that information to current and potential clients. Over the course of the program, the analyst will rotate among up to three different trading desks or research areas. In each rotation, the analyst will develop knowledge and a skill set specific to each product, as well as detailed knowledge of the firm's Risk Management and Performance Attribution framework that applies more broadly to all products and strategies. The analyst will also partner with other functions of the asset management business, including Operations, Technology, Client Service, Sales and Marketing. The analyst will also be responsible for modeling security master data, performing data consistency checks and ensuring the highest quality data is used as inputs to the firm's quantitative processes.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly performance attribution and analysis.
- Monitor portfolio positioning on a daily basis with respect to various interest rate, currency and credit risk exposures.
- Work with various constituents through the organization to ensure that the Portfolio and Risk Management groups have the reporting and technology required to effectively manage portfolios.
- Prepare relative Value reporting within and across sectors, assist in the identification of potential trading opportunities.
- Respond to client reporting requests and new business requests for proposal with market data, investment analytics and model portfolios.
- Recommend and implement appropriate benchmarks based on client guidelines, objects and risk tolerance. Compare and contrast various benchmarks and their risk and positioning profiles.
- Model and monitor the completeness and accuracy of security level data to ensure the highest quality data is input to the firm's models and analytic calculations.
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Engineering or related field
- Strong quantitative skills (project experience involving data analysis a plus)
- Proficiency with MS Excel
- Coursework indicating a breadth of interests and abilities
- Demonstrated skills as a team player and ability to work independently
