Within the Investment practice of Towers Watson, our focus is to assist clients in developing their strategy to manage assets to achieve their long-term objectives and mitigating the risks surrounding those objectives. Long-term objectives can be expressed as a quantitative target or in terms of a high-level goal.   As a leading investment consultancy, we work with our clients to understand investment complexity as they seek to balance risks and return, while developing frameworks to improve governance.

We have an exciting new opportunity at our Dublin office for 3 – 4 junior strategy analyst positions. These roles will join the existing Investment Consulting team of 11 consultants.

As an Investment Analyst in the Strategy team, you will help model investment strategy solutions and produce reports of the analysis for Irish and other European-based pension schemes. You will work with teams from other parts of the Company in developing the analysis and considering risk and return profile of a range of asset classes.

The main duties and responsibilities are as follows:

Model and develop an understanding of: liability data, strategy software and other tools.

Develop knowledge of investment and derivatives markets which will be applied to analysis and discussion with other team members on a variety of projects. Liaise with members of the wider Investment team and Benefits practice to obtain necessary information and context, so as to understand the client’s needs.

Work with Lead consultants to develop solutions to problems through a critical and iterative process, and present this effectively with delivery in a timely manner.

Support team members in construction and delivery of presentations to clients.

Graduate, ideally with some progress made towards relevant professional qualifications such as CFA, FIA, FSIA or equivalent

Strong working knowledge of Excel and databases, and interested in furthering knowledge in quantitative analysis

Understanding of and strong interest in financial markets and the  practical issues of investment management (investment process, organizational structure and people, marketing, business management and strategy)

Progressing knowledge of the investment process across a range of asset classes

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Comfortable and successful in a team environment; able to fit seamlessly on teams of senior and more junior colleagues

Enquiring and analytically minded with a logical and thorough work ethic

Ability to grasp issues and offer innovative solutions

Track record of delivering high quality work on time and within allocated budget

0 – 3 years work experience, preferably in financial services environment. Familiarity with investment consulting for pension schemes and some knowledge of derivatives would be advantageous.
