Position
The Investment Analytics team originated in Equity Product Management and is now part of a new group within Investment Products Strategies. Investment Analytics was formed to provide business reporting solutions and a variety of insightful, timely, and flexible analytics for use across the firm. The team's original focus was predominantly equity-oriented, but has grown to provide solutions and intelligence that span the asset classes.
The role of the Investment Analytics Analyst is to support and enhance the broad research and data analytics efforts of the Investment Analytics team. The Analyst will work directly with and report to the Investment Analytics Manager. This individual will work closely with Product Management (Equity, Fixed, and Asset Allocation) and many other business units across the firm. The Analyst will be involved in the day-to-day activities of the Investment Analytics team across a range of areas. Key areas of focus for the Analyst will include Automation/Business Reporting Solutions, Business Trends, Competitive Analysis, Market Overview and Trends, Risk Analysis and Investment Perspectives.
Responsibilities
•Develop and maintain business/management oriented applications and solutions
•Work with the team to create business reporting solutions that maximize the use of automation so teams across the firm are spending more time on data analysis and less time on data retrieval and consolidation; develop new reports and tools that allow teams across the firm to work more efficiently
•Act as a technology and systems expert on the team by developing detailed and in-depth knowledge of various in-house and 3rd party applications (e.g., Barra, eVestment Alliance, Enterprise Reporting,FactSet, IQT, Morningstar Direct, Performance Reporter, etc.)
•Liaise between the investment, business, and the technology groups to provide specifications, help develop and test the applications/reports, and ensure timely deliveries
•Become a 'go to' resource on the various internal and third party analytic applications used by our team and across the firm - complete system-based tasks and projects in response to ad-hoc product and business-related requests from internal and external constituents
•Complete complex analytics-related projects under tight time constraints using internal and third party systems
Qualifications
Working in this role requires a high degree of demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity, and enthusiasm. The individual must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where priorities change frequently and deadlines are crucial. Prior demonstrated experience working in Investment Management is preferred. The ideal candidate must have good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to synthesize data and business requirements.
Strong academic credentials are required. Preferably, the individual will have studied Finance, Statistics, and/or Financial Markets with some focus on Investment Management. A minimum of two to five years of relevant work experience is preferred. Progress towards a CFA is considered a plus.
