Opportunity with Macquarie Capital

Macquarie Capital is the advisory division of Macquarie provides advice to corporate and financial clients on MA, debt and equity fund raising and corporate restructuring. In addition, Macquarie Capital is able to access its balance sheet to invest as principal in opportunities and provide capital to clients.

Our advisory activities are aligned into industry groups, reflecting key areas of expertise in: Infrastructure, Real Estate and Utilities; Resources and General Industrial and MA activity. 

Within Macquarie Capital in the EMEA we have over 180 professional staff across offices in London, Frankfurt, Paris, Stockholm, Dublin, Moscow, Amsterdam and Madrid, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Cape Town and Johannesburg. .

The London Infrastructure and Utilities team has been involved in a number of historic transactions such as the £8bn Thames Water acquisition, £350m Peterborough Hospital PFI and more recently closing the Offshore Transmission – Walney I Project and €3.0bn acquisition of Open Grid Networks. 

Macquarie Capital has also received numerous awards in the infrastructure sector, including the Finance Excellence Award by Infrastructure Partnership Australia in April 2012 and Global Infrastructure deal of the year from Infrastructure Investor in March 2012. We were also awarded PPP Deal of the Year by Project Finance International in December 2011 and Infrastructure Project Financing Deal of the Year (Americas) by FT Banker Awards in May 2011 for the $3bn Adelaide Hospital PPP.

The Role

Macquarie Capital is looking to add experienced associates to its market leading Infrastructure and Utilities team in London. The role would include working on live high profile infrastructure transactions as an advisor and principal investor across Europe.

The successful candidate will:

• Have experience as a execution banker, ideally in the infrastructure utility space

• Have MA, PPP or project financing experience

• Have sound commercial judgement,

• Have strong quantitative skills including extensive experience with financial models and valuation techniques

• Be able to independently manage and oversee a valuation including the incorporation of key due diligence findings into a model

• Have good team and people management skills

• Have strong academics with a degree qualification (legal or engineering qualifications would be considered as a plus).

• Ideally have experience at an investment bank, boutique or big 4 with corporate finance or transaction services experiences

• Be regarded as an outstanding performer amongst your peers

• Have the ability to liaise at all levels

• Have strong presentation, communication, negotiation and project management skills

• Be ambitious, motivated and have the desire to succeed

• Be a team player
