Investment Borrowing Powers (IBP) Monitoring Analyst recruitment
• To ensure that required IBP checks are completed to ensure that each fund’s portfolio complies with the relevant regulations, objectives and any other appropriate restrictions.
• To ensure that any identified IBP breaches, be they from work undertaken by the client or from other sources (Trustee/Depositary, external auditors, etc.) are validated, recorded and escalated promptly
• To ensure that all necessary supporting documentation for asset eligibility checks are obtained.
• To ensure that management information produced reflects the status of each breach and that each breach is tracked until it is deemed closed.
• To ensure that IBP breaches are reported to the Trustee/Depositary and that the records are kept in agreement.
• To propose changes to monitoring procedures and arrangements with the objective of continual improvement over time.
• To support IMST in continually developing the businesses regulatory knowledge in relation to its activity as Authorized Corporate Director for which it has delegated investment management.
The jobholder will be responsible for
• Maintenance and daily review of IBP incidents generated by internal systems that indicate a portfolios failure to comply with regulatory and/or fund restrictions.
• Investigation of identified incidents generated either internally or by external sources to ascertain if a breach has occurred or if there are mitigating circumstances (trade, data issues etc).
• Liaise with the Investment Manager for rectification of IBP breaches.
• Escalate any IBP breaches which are considered significant.
• Support IMST to identify those breaches which require adjustments to be made to portfolios and compensatory payments made.
• Liaise with the Trustee to ensure that all recorded IBP breaches are notified to the Trustee and where required supporting information is supplied.
• Production of weekly and monthly management information that enables recipients to understand the status and significance of each IBP breach.
• Provide on request an analysis of a fund’s portfolio using fund accounting system (InvestOne).
• Ad-hoc project involvement to ensure an effective monitoring process.
• Maintaining awareness of actual and proposed regulatory changes which impact the requirements of the activity.
• Projecting and fostering a supportive compliance culture within the business.
• Such other associated tasks as required by management.
Essential
Desirable
Knowledge:
General Understanding of various investment types (Equity/Fixed Income/Collectives).
Familiarity with UK / EEA financial services regulatory framework.
Understanding of the investment management process and appreciation of the interaction between the various processes involved in fund administration.
Knowledge and application of FSA COLL Chapter 5 rules to common investment management techniques.
Relevant professional qualification (e.g. IAQ / IMC)
Skills:
Superior attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communicator who can explain technical matters in simple terms
Bloomberg Terminal API
It is envisaged that over time the candidate will be expected to participate in identifying and recommending enhancements to existing IBP systems.
Experience:
At least 2 years compliance/control room experience gained at an investment management firm, fund administrator, ACD, or Depositary.
