Independence is a division of Convergent Wealth Advisors, which is an objective, open-architecture wealth management firm with over 250 clients and $10 billion in assets under advisement. Our typical Independence relationship is a high net-worth individual with approximately $1-5 million, and we provide our clients specialized wealth management, portfolio advisory and performance measurement services. Independence by Convergent is headquartered in Potomac, Maryland. We have offices in Los Angeles, New York, and Portland, OR. We have an immediate need for an Investment Management Associate at our Potomac, Maryland location.
POSITION SUMMARY
The main responsibility of the Investment Management Associate will be to provide a high level of qualitative and quantitative support to the trusted advisors managing our complex client relationships. The Investment Management Associate will analyze, construct and manage multi-million dollar portfolios spanning the range of asset classes including traditional equities, real assets, and fixed income. Additional responsibilities will include onboarding new clients, contributing to team projects/initiatives, and facilitating the day-to-day needs of clients.
This individual will be part of a high performance team responsible for coordinating the portfolio implementation with the operations group. The Investment Management Associate will have a commitment to service excellence and thrive in developing solutions that enable the client to fulfill their financial goals and objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work collaboratively with other team members to provide qualitative and quantitative support in the client management process.
- Obtain a comprehensive understanding of all relevant clients, their goals, expectations and individual specifications to effectively support and assist all team members in managing client relationships.
- Analyze, construct and manage client portfolios, client presentation materials and other client deliverables. Ensure a high level of accuracy and timely completion.
- Manage competing deadlines, expectations and communicate status to team members. Provide proactive support to team members in the preparation for and follow-up from all client meetings/discussions.
- Provide support to team members and assist in their professional development and continuing education.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Advanced Degree and/or external industry certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of industry related experience, and familiarity with asset allocation and portfolio construction
- Series 65 or successful completion required within 120 days of employment.
- Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking skills to develop solutions in a changing entrepreneurial work environment.
- Excellent PC skills, fluency in Excel and Word, and mastery of analytical and quantitative portfolio tools.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively articulate core facets of our business including investment recommendations, general tax considerations, and estate planning.
- Strong prioritization, relationship management, and interpersonal skills, ability to effectively manage competing deadlines, and expectations.
- Ability to orchestrate group projects and responsibilities to deliver the highest level of service to clients.
