(Investment Management) Compliance and Risk Officer          

LOCATION:                  London                                   

Job Purpose and Ideal Candidate:

Ø  To assist the Chief Executive Officer to ensure that the companyis compliant with FSA and other regulatory bodies’ regulations at all times (e.g. Bermuda Monetary Authority and SEC).

Ø  To ensure that all regulatory returns are filed on time. 

Ø  Depth of compliance experience gained working in an asset management business division. Experience of the insurance industry would be an additional benefit but is not required.

Ø  Attributes and items to test in interview. It would help if they have experience of systems based compliance monitoring. The Company would want evidence of keeping on top of new compliance regulations, especially with the new post-FSA regime.

Ø  They would want to be comfortable that they can manage a transition project to the new post-FSA regime and get all documents in place, new rules, letter heads etc.

Ø  Role would include monitoring, board agenda/paper preparation, checklists and Co Sec requirements in conjunction with Group Company Secretariat.

Ø  Role to include Treasury as well as they conduct some FSA controlled business

Ø  Role will include covering the financial aspects of compliance for the Standard Clubs e.g. market risks and liquidity risks policy compliance in conjunction with PI Division’s Compliance Officer.

Key Accountabilities:

Ø  Manage the transition from regulation by the FSA to its successor regulatory bodies ensuring all filing, procedures, documentation etc meet the requirements of the new regulator.

Ø  Client should know shortly whether company has to register with the US SEC under the Dodd-Frank act. If they do this there will be a significant extra regulatory burden that will need to be covered by compliance officer.

Ø  Parts of their two main clients are subject to regulation by the Bermuda Monetary Authority and so assistance may be required in meeting BMA requirements insofar as they impact their client’s/ investment management activities.

Ø  Carry out all compliance monitoring requirements, as required, to FSA standards, so that the company is fully compliant with FSA Rules.

Ø  Carry out all compliance monitoring requirements, as required by clients, so that the company is not in breach of any client investments rules and guidelines.

Ø  Manage the Compliance Monitoring module of the front office system (Thinkfolio).

Ø  Report any breaches to the CEO /Group Compliance and Risk Officer and arrange for appropriate training to be given/system changes.

Ø  Make sure all FSA returns are filed in good time.

Ø  Deal with all Anti Money Laundering issues including organizing anti money laundering training and acting as the money laundering reporting officer.

Ø  Checking and signing off reports and marketing materials for distribution to clients and other third parties.

Ø  Pro-actively keep abreast of regulatory and compliance requirements and best practice and help the CEO to ensure that the company keeps on top of regulatory developments.

Ø  Pro-actively seek to constantly improve compliance practice and culture.  For example they would like an early and full review of compliance procedures, practices, systems and records with proposals for enhancements.

Ø  Work with other compliance, legal and secretariat staff as directed.
