Investment Marketing recruitment
The role:
This new role will form part of an investment marketing team, a centre of excellence for insightful investment communication. It is intended that content delivered by the team will be set at a more technical level than the current output of the investment writing team which is principally framed against a deeper retail environment.
The successful candidate will own a number of key funds and act as a key source of relevant information on these funds. They will be responsible for sitting in regular meetings with relevant fund managers developing a strong knowledge of their funds and their PM’s investment approach. They will act as a conduit for this information, editing and selecting relevant information and working with IM team members, identifying impactful promotional messages and angles that will strengthen the investment proposition. This content may be used directly or re-packed by the relevant channel managers for subsequent distribution.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Work with the manager of Investment Marketing, other team members and relevant fund management desks to develop and manage regular insightful communications.
• Take on direct relationships for core funds and develop a deep knowledge of these, their propositions and current portfolio status. Become a central center of excellence for information on these funds.
• Have some understanding of competitor positioning and look to maximize propositions v these competitors
• Work with sales teams to understand investor/distributor requirements.
Key audiences to support include:
- Major distribution partners (eg life cos/aggregators)
- UK and European discretionary clients
- UK advisory (inc nationals and networks)
- Direct investors
• Continue to support the provision of required content to support our existing channel distributors, specifically in providing investment-led content for brochure-ware and supporting editorial content for documents such as the investment focus document
• Given the factors above, the successful candidate should be able to demonstrate relevant experience.
• In addition to the requirements of the role indicated above, the successful candidate will be required to champion within the IM team. As champion within IM, the role will include regular co-ordination of content with the relevant channel marketer (UK advisory/discretionary) including the planning and content provision for the quarterly adviser magazine.
The Candidate
- Educated to degree level, with economics or similar relevant degree preferable
- Excellent knowledge of financial services marketing but specifically in asset management
- IMC is set as a minimal vocational qualification – working towards the CFA would be advantageous
- Experience of developing, implementing and managing the delivery of investment communications for a broad range of client types.
- Able to demonstrate aptitude and experience of producing brochure ware for investment products across professional and investor levels.
- Able to demonstrate sound skills in articulating complex financial propositions succinctly and creatively.
- Experience of coaching senior management - the successful candidate will have sound influencing skills, be measured, diplomatic and persuasive
- Sound people management and development skills as the role will require interaction with numerous internal and external resources
- Computer literate, with good skills in MS Office suite and relevant research systems such as Lipper and Bloomberg
- Foreign language skills may be an advantage (French, Italian, German)
