Investment Officer I (Limited Term)

CalPERS seeks an Investment Officer I (IO I) Limited Term/Part-Time to work under the general direction of the Senior Portfolio Manager (SPM) of Private Equity (PE). The IO I (LT) assigned to the position identified above demonstrates the CalPERS Core Values (Quality, Respect, Integrity, Openness, Accountability, and Balance), works well as a member of a team, and takes initiative in effectively performing the following functions:

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Contribute to the Investment Book of Records (IBOR) implementation planning, requirements, process design, system design, and testing phases

• Leverage PE subject matter expertise and business process re-engineering methodology to assist the vendors with identifying and documenting all current “As Is” private equity business processes, analyzing impacts of the proposed solution on business processes and assisting with prioritization of deliverables in order of redesign urgency

• Responsible for the timely execution of project deliverables

• Communicate project risks, issues, and change requests to the Project Team

• Track information required in accordance with PE Program designated timeframes 

• Prepare update reports and assist in the preparation of ad hoc presentations on projects assigned

Minimum Requirements and Experience:

• Equivalent to graduation from college preferably with major work in business administration, economics, finance, mathematics, or a closely related field

AND

• Six months of professional experience performing investment analysis

OR

• Completion of a student internship involving at least 500 hours of investment analysis work involving the management of a large equity, fixed income, real estate, and/or private equity portfolio OR

• Possession of a master's degree with major work in business administration, economics, finance, mathematics, or a closely related field

Desirable Qualifications:

• 2 years private equity or investment management experience

• Previous project management experience. 

• MBA or possession of an advanced degree in finance or another technical field.

• Team-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Functional with Microsoft Work, Excel and Power Point.

• Focuses on details and ensures timely completion of quality deliverables

• Interest in pursuing or have acquired a professional certification such as a CPA, CFA, MFE, ASA/FSA
