Investment Officer II

CalPERS seeks an Investment Officer II (IO II) to work under the general direction of the Portfolio Manager (PM) of Real Assets (RA). The IO II assigned to the position identified above demonstrates the CalPERS Core Values (Quality, Respect, Integrity, Openness, Accountability, and Balance), works well as a member of a team, and takes initiative in effectively performing the following functions:

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Independently analyze financial, operating, and compliance reports associated with investments.

• Organize and analyze data and prepare program reviews and other updates for senior management. 

• Manage relationships with assigned investment partners and managers to ensure investment oversight, reporting compliance.

• Participate on CalPERS project teams and special initiatives.

• Assist with overall program implementation.

• Provide support to senior team members in due diligence of investment opportunities.

• Review, analyze and manipulate financial models to support pricing / valuation analyses.

Minimum Requirements and Experience:

• Equivalent to graduation from college preferably with major work in business administration, economics, finance, mathematics, or a closely related field

• Three years of increasingly responsible investment analysis experience for a public agency or private financial institution, insurance company, pension fund, endowment fund, investment firm, real estate development and investment firm, or other private corporation or entity having a major investment management program

• Relevant Graduate Degree and professional training.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to make presentations to high-level decision makers

• Excellent teamwork and service attitude and skills.

• Ability to actively collaborate with all units within INVO, CalPERS and external interested parties.

• Microsoft Applications experience with Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.

• Strong organizational skills / Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.

• Demonstrates CalPERS Core Values.
