Summary
Entry-level Operations Opportunity: We are seeking a highly numerate candidate with strong communication skills to maintain the posting structure of the client accounting system (Quasar) and to ensure the general ledger reconciliations are completed to the satisfaction of both internal and external clients.

The primary role is to maintain the posting structure of the client accounting system (Quasar). This involves setting up ledgers, transaction types and reviewing processes for new initiatives. The team also ensures the accuracy of the general ledger in over 50 currencies, which involves daily and monthly reconciliations. The team is also responsible for assisting in the correction of Op Risk Events. The team is also responsible for the calculation of daily client money balances and any client overdraft funding that is required.
The current team consists of the Investment Operations Accountant and one Investment Operations Accounting Assistant. The team uses a variety of systems in its daily work including Quasar. The experience and efficiency of staff is central to the team’s success.
The key areas of responsibility are:
• Maintaining Posting Structure of Client Accounting System (Quasar)
The Investment Operations Accounting team is responsible for maintaining the posting structure of the client accounting system. This involves updating Quasar to ensure that new clients and new types of transactions can be processed in the client accounting system.
• Reconciling the Client Accounting Systems
The Investment Operations Accounting team is responsible for daily and monthly reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of the general ledger. The team is also responsible for calculating and paying internal trading commission on a monthly basis.
• Correction of Op Risk Events Incidents
The Investment Operations Accounting team provides advice on how to correct errors, and assists with the investigation and rectification of all internal errors that require correction to client’s accounts.
• Calculation of Daily Client Money and Overdraft Funding
The Investment Operations Accounting team is responsible for the daily client money calculation and administration of the client overdraft funding process.
Requirements
• An understanding of the investment management industry and a basic understanding of a general ledger system would be beneficial but not essential.
• Problem solving and reconciliation skills.
• A strong work ethic. The ability to work under pressure and take responsibility for completion of own work. Must be accurate, numerate, and adaptable.
• Team player attributes: The team works closely together and a willingness to interchange responsibilities and to form good working relationships with colleagues are essential.
• Good communication skills: The role involves constant communication with a variety of internal and sometimes external contacts at all levels. This includes many other departments within the Company e.g. liaison with Senior Managers, Fund Managers and their assistants and the various Client Service teams. There will also be extensive communication with other offices and Custodians. Good oral and written communication skills will ensure that the candidate is able to contribute to the creation and maintenance of the team’s written procedures.
• PC Skills: The team use a variety of different systems; therefore the successful candidate will be confident in using a variety of systems. Some knowledge of Quasar would be beneficial.
