Investment Operations Analyst recruitment
Ideal opportunity for someone who has experience in a junior Investment Operations / Performance Analyst role, who wants to gain meaningful experience working across many investment operations teams, and who will contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of Principal’s investment operations. Activities will include completion of daily tasks, trouble-shooting of issues, assisting in ad hoc projects, and actively growing our London-based support model.
The successful candidate will be responsible for tasks related to investment mandate compliance, performance calculations, trade support, security set up, and client reporting and other investment-related processes. The successful candidate will support the traders, Portfolio Managers, and client service personnel covering a wide range of products. The successful candidate will also be responsible for communicating with the head office on any process changes, issues and new technology.
Essential functions may include but are not limited to:
- Review and analyze performance, analytics, and attribution completeness, validity and reasonableness.
- Understand, set up, test and monitor investment guideline restrictions in trading systems.
- Gather and confirm accuracy of trade confirmations.
- Liaise with traders and counterparties on trade discrepancies and failed trades.
- Verify accuracy of security data in trading systems.
- Research and determine appropriate actions on exception-based cash and security reconciliation breaks.
- Efficiently and accurately prepare monthly and quarterly client reports.
- Respond to queries from clients in a precise, detailed and professional manner.
- Assist in documenting, reviewing, and maintaining sound controls to support client and regulatory needs.
- Actively engage with head office to improve support to London-based investment functions
Requirements:
- Previous experience with thinkFolio, Thomson Reuters PORTIA, Charles River Investment Management System, BBH Infomediary, CADIS, and SSC Technologies Inc.’s Sylvan strongly preferred.
- Extensive experience in a back and middle office role supporting Equities, Fixed Income and Currency strategies across trade settlement, security data maintenance, compliance, reconciliations and performance calculation functions.
- Strong problem solving, analytical, and maths skills with high attention to detail required.
- Ability to take initiative, work independently, and meet strict deadlines in a high pressure environment is essential.
- Ability to prioritize competing tasks, understand complex processes, identify risks and escalate appropriately.
- Ability to explain anomalies in data to portfolio managers and other internal business partners.
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to build strong working relationships and collaborate effectively across business units.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent (Business or Economics degree preferable) and/or accountancy background and/or Maths A level.
