Investment Operations and Reporting Manager recruitment
Develop improved reporting capabilities to improve decision making and understanding of Asian investments; ensure the sound operations of investments, particularly the use of derivatives; and support various regional initiatives related to these duties.
Responsibilities
Lead the Asia/Pacific region in the effective operation and reporting for Investments. Activities include:
- Take the lead on adopting US analytic capabilities and supporting implementation in the region. Be the expert resource for the Asia/Pacific region related to the US software packages (DiDiver, Bondedge, etc.)
- Manage projects designing and implementing appropriate processes and controls for derivatives whether for derivatives directly held or embedded in our insurance products. Work with the country operations to help develop a control matrix for derivatives, provide advice on implementation and review implementation when complete. Work with the appropriate staff in HO investments, treasury and finance to ensure corporate requirements are met on an ongoing basis
- Build relationships with our 3rd party asset management partners to ensure smooth and timely operations and reporting.
- Coordinate and oversee all investment reporting in the region
- Responsible for communication and implementation in the region of all investment accounting and reporting policies required to comply with US reporting obligations, including implementation of new investment accounting pronouncements
- Develop and implement improved investment management reporting at the local and regional level. Establish and implement appropriate key performance indicators (KPI's) and reporting packages for management team on monthly or quarterly basis.
- Improve reporting for Variable Universal Life (VUL) funds and ensuring appropriate operational processes related to cash inflows and outflows are in place.
- Perform special projects to support enterprise initiatives.
Requirements:
- Minimum 7 years experience in investment operations and/or financial reporting role.
- In-depth knowledge and experience with the mid and back office of an investment operation.
- Strong internal control orientation
- Strong project management capabilities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to summarise business rationale and actions taken for senior management
- Works well independently and in a team environment; shows inclination to seek input from others in extended team in decision making but sets priorities well independently
- Good team and relationship skills; comfortable working with both internal and external business partners
- Good diplomat; able to understand and adopt others' points of view and be persuasive without seeming overbearing
- Able to gain the respect and cooperation of others
- High degree of personal and professional integrity
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting. MBA or CFA preferred.
- High energy and results oriented.
- Willing to travel as necessary (likely 20%).
- Ability to work flexible hours to cope with time zone requirements of a global business;
- English verbal and written skills are mandatory; other Asian language(s) a plus.
