The Team Leader is a hands-on resource working in the Middle Office, reporting to the Director. The person oversees the daily workflow to ensure all tasks are completed on and in line with deadlines and are in accordance with stated processes and controls. The Team Leader acts as a resource to Investment Operations (IO) analysts for escalations and training. In addition, the role shares daily team responsibilities and can act as back up for all team members. We are looking for intelligent individuals who have excellent organization skills, work well in a fast paced environment, and can communicate with all levels of external and internal clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform trade analysis and facilitate communication with broker community, custodians, front office trading and portfolio management to ensure timely confirmation and settlement for all security types.
- Provide daily mentoring and training Investment Operations Analysts to identify and ensure workflow efficiencies and adherence to procedures and controls.
- Act as immediate escalation point for IO Analysts.
- Identifies, recommends and implements process improvement strategies including ensuring documentation of procedures and roll out of training.
- Reviews and signs off on daily control check points.
- Support on boarding of new security types, new investment mandates or IT systems through analysis, procedure creation, recommendation and implementation of new controls and to ensure team readiness through training.
- The Investment Operations Analysts are responsible for the specialized functions of Trade Confirmation and Settlement for all security types including derivatives, Collateral Management, Valuation, Cash Reporting, Reporting and oversight of controls and procedures that secure a seamless transition from the off-shore nightly processing team (MBPS) to the Portfolio Management Order Management and Risk Systems.
Qualifications:
- University or College Degree preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business
- A minimum of 5 years of Securities industry background
- Experience in a supervisory capacity in operations.
- Must have a background in accounting and custody and securities valuation including exchange traded and over the counter derivatives.
- Background in using portfolio accounting or recordkeeping systems (Portia a plus) as well as proficiency in Excel, Access DB and Bloomberg.
- Highly organized, able to manage multiple functions
- Solid project and time management skills
- Expertise in maintaining professional relationships with internal and external contacts
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
