Investment Restriction & Guidance Team – thinkFolio Coding recruitment

With the continued growth in Ashmore’s AuM and the global expansion of the use of the core Front Office technology, thinkFolio® , a new division Group Investment Restriction Support has been created to create a global centre of excellence to maintain and code fund, house and client compliance restrictions in thinkFolio. The team will support all advisors that are on the global platform. This is currently, London, Singapore, Washington DC and São Paulo.

Primary Responsibilities:

Day to day involvement in the core process of investment restriction coding, working closely with both Risk and Compliance teams globally.

• Review all new client and new fund legal documents to (i) establish if thinkFolio has the ability to systematically monitor restrictions, and (ii) carry out initial coding in thinkFolio.

• Ensure thorough communication to the Compliance and Risk teams and mutually agree where there is a shortfall in the ability to automatically code and thus monitor restrictions at the client level.

• Build and maintain relationships with each advisor office using thinkFolio.

• Check and test rules coded by fellow GIRS team member and release to production.

• Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with the Group Compliance team.

• Work closely with Legal and Transaction Management, the Front Office and Distribution to ensure that any changes for existing funds or clients are coded to thinkFolio in an efficient manner.

• Conduct annual reviews of all client and fund rule

• Assisting the Group Head of Middle Office in matters relating to regulatory change across the middle office, and involvement in new business developments.

Requirements:

We are keen to see applicants with experience in coding with a system commonly used for investment guidance (such as Charles River / CRL; LZ Sentinel / Minerva; etc). Experience in thinkFolio is highly desirable. Analytical skills and experience is needed to interpret the legal documentation, while strong communication and relationship building skills are necessary to deal with the wide array of stakeholders involved.

This new initiative is seen as a crucial part of Ashmore's future, and the team will have high levels of importance and visibility to senior management.
