Opportunity

As a key function within MAGIM Equities, the Investment Specialists team is responsible for the origination, articulation and ownership of investment messages. Positioned as investment experts in their own right, they are expected to be credible representatives for client facing purposes, providing commercial scalability to the business. They also act as the primary interface between the investment teams and the broader business, protecting FMs from non-investment pressures in order for them to focus on delivering investment performance.

Key responsibilities

* Work with the fund management team to shape and communicate all dimensions of the investment message (investment mandate, fund approach, risk and performance characteristics) and generate ideas for investment communications, taking into account feedback provided by the distribution channels * Act as the main investment team point of contact and representative for sales, investment marketing, and press team * Build strong relationships with the key contacts within the distribution channels, understanding their requirements in terms of fund manager support and investment communications and balance commercial and investment needs in terms of fund manager exposure * Work closely with the fund managers and sales channels in coordinating and participating in new business pitches, as well as ensuring current client base remains efficiently serviced * Liaise with the product strategy and management team regarding key issues. * Conduct competitor analysis to provide valuable peer group insight * Represent the fund manager for internal and external meetings where appropriate * Work with investment marketing content on the generation of in-depth sales/marketing materials and market insights

Skills knowledge essential * Able to absorb the philosophy and investment process of particular funds and represent fund propositions internally and externally * A dynamic person with strong interpersonal skills: ability to establish credibility and build good relationships with fund managers and the distribution channel * Strong communication and presentation skills: highly articulate, able to distil and communicate the key investment messages to a range of audiences * Perceptive, able to understand requirements and provide relevant information, able to empathise and understand client perspectives * Good listening skills * Very good organisational skills - keen awareness of and ability to manage and meet different deadlines and priorities from different sources, ensuring timeliness of delivery is essential * Proactive nature: ability to anticipate future requirements and generate ideas * The successful candidate is likely to have post graduate experience, preferably within the asset management industry, with or working towards CFA qualification * A sound understanding and genuine enthusiasm for investment
