Investments Finance Director recruitment
The Business Finance organization plays a critical
role as trusted business partner to the business units, supporting
all analysis, reporting and planning needs of the business. We
produce budgets, short and long range forecasts; create and analyze
business metrics and identify cost savings opportunities; deliver
economic insight into the relationships between costs and revenues
to improve the financial success of the business going forward.
Job Purpose/Background:
The Investments Finance team directly supports the investment
management platform at BlackRock. The Director role we are
hiring for will be supporting our Alternatives and Trading and
Liquidity business units. This position reports to head of
the Investments Finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary Finance support for the
Alternatives and Trading and Liquidity business units, providing
financial advice and coordination to support complex product
launches and acquisitions, and proactively steering the
organization away from inadvertent risks while clarifying
opportunities throughout the process. - Leverage insights from our business economic
analysis to explain and drive business efficiency, and help
rationalize firm resources to maximize margins and profitability
within the context of the business unit and firm wide business
strategy - Coordination of monthly and quarterly business
reviews, and support periodic strategic reviews - Work with Investments Finance leads, HR, RQA,
and business unit heads and COOs to define relevant and insightful
content, including key business drivers, metrics, and
benchmarks - Refine and maintain multiyear and
multi-dimensional business views to enhance forward vision and
strategic insight - Continuously seek internal and external business
and technical understanding to maximize the consultative benefits
of this role - Drive ad hoc analysis to create a deeper
understanding of the business, and recommend actions Lead monthly
forecast and annual planning / budgeting process - Revenue (NNB, NNR, run rate base fees, other
material revenue streams). Understand key revenue drivers
(e.g., product mix, regional mix) and work with business management
to optimize organic growth initiatives - Expense (Controllable, Direct Fund, Other).
Actively manage the budget based on changing market
conditions. - Annual Operating Plan and quarterly
refreshes - Build positive relationships within the
supported business units, Finance, HR and across BlackRock more
broadly - Team player who embraces and supports
Investments Finance objectives and culture
Development Value:
This role reports directly to the Managing Director (team lead) of
Investments Business Finance, and requires significant interaction
with business partners; these include the COO and senior management
within the Investments world. The role also requires
significant interaction with Finance colleagues across BlackRock
globally.
Knowledge/Experience:
- Broad financial experience in the global asset
management business, including accounting, tax, product
structuring, and regulatory understanding - Extensive experience in an FPA capacity
(budgeting, planning, reporting, analytics, etc) preferably in
asset management or the broader financial services
industry. - Experience acting as a successful finance
business partner - Significant management experience
Skills/Qualifications:
- CPA or similar qualification
preferred - Strong academics. BS/BA, MBA
Preferred.
Competencies:
- Interested in mastering the complexities of the
Alternatives and Trading and Liquidity business units - Ability to prioritize and deliver in fast paced
environment with tight deadlines and multiple demands - Excellent communication (both oral and written)
skills - Ability to develop executive level
presentations - Capable of working effectively at all levels of
an organization and building strong relationships with team
members, managers, and senior executives in multiple
locations - Proven ability to advance in
organizations - Strong financial acumen and ability to think
quickly.
