I/O Lab Manager Job in St. Paul 55101, Minnesota Us

We are looking for an individual to join our test team to coordinate usage and access to I/O equipment and environments to be used for testing. This individual will be expected to understand the technical requirements of planned test activities to effectively coordinate the availability of the I/O equipment and environments for testing. This coordination will require the candidate to work with test staff, test management, and data center staff to gather the requirements and develop and execute the plan for the I/O equipment. Additionally, the candidate may also participate in test activities as time allows.

This position may be located in St. Paul, MN or Chippewa Falls, WI.

This position has three areas of responsibility:

I/O Test Environment Coordination:
The main responsibility as environment coordinator is to match internal I/O environments with available internal Cray supercomputer systems to meet test requirements and timeframes. This coordination requires: 1. an understanding of the architecture of Cray-supported I/O environments and Cray systems, 2. an understanding of the internal processes for scheduling test equipment, and 3. the ability to work with Cray staff to understand test needs and ensure that the I/O environments are ready for testing as planned.

I/O Test Lab Asset Management:
The I/O test team manages a lab of I/O equipment. The equipment is shared internally within the team and externally for others within Cray. For this area of responsibility, the individual will use the team asset tracking tool to maintain an accurate equipment list and current usage information.

File System Testing:
This individual must function successfully in a team environment and participate in execution and development of Cray file system tests as time permits.

This position requires a B.S. in computer science or a related degree. In addition, the successful candidate will have three to five years of experience with software and hardware I/O technologies (or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience) including work experience with the following:
-Exposure to Ethernet, Fibre Channel Infiniband and other I/O devices
-Storage Subsystems
-File Systems (Parallel Preferred)
-Linux Experience

The successful candidate will have strong planning and negotiation skills as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
