ION Marketview Support Analyst

The person in this role will be responsible for:

1: Second-level trading IT support

Pick up, investigate and own problems to resolution. Develop business domain and specialist IT platform knowledge. Use and contribute to team knowledge bases. Follow and offer thoughtful improvements to support processes. Spot patterns in issues arising and escalate unresolved problems promptly and effectively. Communicate clearly and effectively with users at all levels in the business. Display resilience and clear thinking under pressure.

2: Infrastructure management

Effectively use, design, and improve the enterprise infrastructure for our trading applications. Design and test business continuity solutions. Utilise and maintain monitoring tools. Act as a local subject matter expert on our server and database estate, TCP/IP networking, and three-tier enterprise Java application configuration.

3: Release management

Follow and contribute to team change management procedures. Review and manage changes to the production trading environments. Perform risk assessments of proposed changes and respond appropriately. Act as an effective gatekeeper by challenging inappropriate changes and execute post-release tests reliably and accurately. Think critically about the change management process and suggest improvements from experience.

4: Project management

Work independently on projects without direct supervision. Analyse requirements, break them down into tasks, and deliver to objectives. Identify and escalate problems. Maintain an individual prioritised task list. Build and leverage relationships with subject-matter experts within the department. Report on progress in an accurate and timely fashion. Set and maintain appropriate scope. Follow and contribute creatively to the team’s best practice guidelines.

Applicants are required to have:

• Experience of electronic trading technology (Government Corporate debt securities preferred);
• Basic UNIX (Solaris, Red Hat Enterprise Linux) system administration;
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Perl and Python preferred);
• Sybase and Oracle DB configuration and use (writing SQL and stored procedures, basic system administration, query review and optimisation).

Experience with ION Trading pricing and risk management software (Marketview MMI), CCNA or other training in TCP/IP connectivity, and experience with OTC Rates and Credit Derivatives is highly desirable.
