IP – Legal Secretary

The firm is currently recruiting for a Legal Secretary for the IP Patent Prosecution Practice Group, in our Dallas office. 

Primary Responsibilities

• Preparing finalizing and filing documents in US Patent Office in US provisional, utility, design and PCT applications, i.e., Transmittals, Declarations, Power of Attorneys, Assignments, Transmittals, Extensions of Time, 3.73 Statements, Information Disclosure Statements, Maintenance Fee payments, etc.
• Preparing and finalizing client correspondence; maintaining attorney docket for both US and foreign patent matters. 
• Candidate will have Patent Prosecution experience which includes EFS filing, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CPI docketing software.
• Handle administrative confidential/sensitive firm and/or client information.
• Other duties as assigned to fully meet the requirements of the position.

Experience Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years legal secretarial experience and at least 3 years of IP Patent Prosecution experience in a mid to large sized law firm and be proficient in legal secretarial and administrative tasks including, but not limited to, document preparation, time entry, expenses, telephone contact, travel arrangements and calendar maintenance.
• Ability to work in a high volume, high energy environment.
• The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills and a focus on providing excellent client service.
• Qualified candidates must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Visio experience is also preferred.  Must exhibit strong typing skills and have the ability to learn and quickly become proficient in new computer software programs.  Availability for some overtime is required.
• Candidates should possess excellent written and oral communication and strong organizational skills. Candidates should also be detail oriented, able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, have the ability to prioritize incoming/outgoing tasks and work effectively independently and within a team.
