IP Network Design Engineer Job in Ashburn, Virginia US


IP engineering technical lead for assigned projects. Go to person for team members regarding technical matters pertaining to IP technologies. Perform detailed IP/MPLS network engineering, capacity engineering, IP network audits, configurations development, and documentation for network infrastructure that supports Company Wireline's Data, Video, VoIP products and services, adhering to defined IP architecture, design and configurations framework. Work with vendors such as Cisco and Juniper on an ongoing basis to ensure that Company's requirements are engineered and delivered satisfactorily. Work on a regular basis with personnel in other Company internal and external organizations for associated projects. Primarily responsible for all aspects of ongoing IP network engineering, capacity engineering, and configuration templates within defined projects scope. Cross project pollination with other members in the team is an integral part of this role.

Required Skills Experience:

6 or more years of IP/MPLS engineering, operations and/or qualification experience in Service Provider or large Enterprise IP networks, including large Cloud/Data Center environments.
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Management Information Systems, Information Technology or equivalent experience
Detailed understanding and experience engineering, implementing and operating many of the following: IS-IS, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, LDP, RSVP-TE, MPLS VPNs, (Rfc 2547bis/4364), IPv6, PWE3, QoS, IP Multicast. PIM, IPSec VPNs, Stateful Firewalls, IDP, SLB, Ethernet switching.
Hands-on expertise and in-depth platform understanding of Juniper and/or Cisco equipment e.g. Cisco CRS1, 12000 GSRs, Cisco 10000 ESR, Cisco Nexus 7018, Cisco 6500/7600, Cisco 4948/3750/2950, Cisco FWSM, Cisco IDSM, Cisco ACE, Juniper T1600, TX+, T640, TX, M320, MX960, M40e, M10/20/40, Juniper ERX 1440, E320, Juniper SRX, F5/Citrix/Brocade SLB.

10 or more years of IP/MPLS engineering, operations and/or qualification experience in Service Provider or large Enterprise IP networks, including large Data Center environments.
Experience and in-depth understanding of one or more of the following protocol decoders and qualification equipment - IXIA, Agilent Router Tester, Adtech AX4000, Smartbits 6000, Avalanche, Packetstorm, RADcom, Ineoquest. Experience with engineering and tuning of IP networks supporting delay jitter sensitive realtime applications for High Availability.
CCNP, JNCIP, or higher IP certifications.
Sound understanding of Video VoIP application technologies - MPEG2, MPEG4, RTP, RTSP, VOD, Ad-Insertion solutions, SIP, H.323, H.248.
Experience with Network Tools such as Packet Design, Cariden, and MRTG.
