Project Unicorn is a global programme which will enable the transfer of assets and liabilities from RBS NV to RBS plc. Unicorn is significantly complex in APAC with business spanning approximately 150 legal entities and 9 countries. APAC Unicorn Programme requires strong leadership to deliver the transfer of branch assets and subsidiaries in Indonesia and Thailand in 2012.
Description:
This Role Exists to:
- Engage with the business and develop effective IT designs / solutions that address business requirements in the Payment area.
- Maximise ISAP Demand opportunities within RBSG Tolerances (Cost, Risk, Priority, Resource). Be a Single Point of Contact within RBSG for all payment related ISAP matters (other than Service Incidents).
Activities: What does the jobholder have to do?
- Obtains a clear understanding of the needs / problems of the business relating to the Payment area of ISAP and creates Tactical / Strategic Solutions / Designs (in part or in whole) together with relevant estimates.
- Provides technical / business information (Guidance / Knowledge / Expertise) to interested parties as necessary.
- Deliver effective designs / solutions (and options where warranted) within the Payment area of ISAP ensuring that Risk, Audit and Regulatory requirement are fully met.
- From a Technology perspective remains intimately familiar with the various Payment areas within Transactional Services and somewhat familiar with the other domains within Transactional Services.
- Is able to anticipate (on varying levels of detail) the impact of business requirements on all domains within the ISAP application set and other payment applications that interface or are closely linked to ISAP.
- Nurture strong and effective relationships with TSI (and other key delivery parties as required e.g. HP).
- Is able to deliver ‘Design content’ in a way that enables the software delivery teams to be most effective.
- Supports the software delivery teams during design. • Supports the resolution of business issues within Payments throughout the project lifecycle and within BAU.
- Actively identifies, escalates and participates in resolution of Issues and Risks.
- Helps develop knowledge and expertise of fellow team members.
- Oversee internal / external technology providers / vendors drives the value proposition.
- Ensure formal Design documentation is created and then retained in a safe / secure manner.
- Take accountability for delivery within the Payment area of ISAP.
- Contribute to the Strategic Direction of the ISAP Application Set (includes associated processes, resources and services) from a Technology perspective.
- Ensure Release Management is effective and does not negatively affect production services.
- Understand and manage down where possible the overall ‘cost of ISAP’ in the payment area.
- Travel requirements: 10% but as is essentially required.
Key deliverables: What are the key outcomes and what does the jobholder have to produce (objectives)?
- Successful delivery of Technology functionality that meets the agreed to business requirement within the Scope, Budget, and Timeframes agreed as per TS Governance.
- Documented IT Designs / Solutions (and options where needed) in response to the agreed to Business Requirements.
- Designs and Solutions require: o Sizing (effort, Resource cost, Capital cost).
- Roadmap / Delivery Plan (Key Milestones / Dependencies).
- Key Risks / Issues that exist.
- Prepare inputs for and successfully navigate IT Governance / Business Case processes (and contribute to Business Governance processes).
- Release Management processes for Payments including syndicated visibility of the next 12 months of commitments.
- A Roadmap of Change for the Payment area of ISAP.
- Produces effective Management Information Communication for all Key Stakeholders (Business Technology partners). Covers Projects, Production Volumetrics, Service Incidents, Financials, Risks and People.
- Generally positive 360 and Stakeholder feedback.
Scope of Role: What decision is the job/ role responsible for?
- Designs for Globally originated Change Requests.
- Appropriateness of Designs.
- How change is scheduled within the Release Calendar.
- How priorities are set for the ISAP-Payments Demand work-stack.
- What environments need to exist to support the Demand.
People Management: What are the key responsibilities of the job/ role?
- No direct people management although is expected to indirectly manage contribution to Designs by various internal and external suppliers.
Financial Management: What are the key responsibilities of the job/ role?
- Ensure accuracy of design costs and monitor how they align to actual costs.
- Control IT supplier costs within your area.
- Understand the overall ISAP-Payment cost base and processes involved around costs and be a positive influence on it.
Experience: What previous experience is required to do this job/role?
Essential:
- Minimum 7 years technology experience.
- Minimum 7 years working in the banking industry.
- Clear Payment expertise of either a technical area or a business area or (preferably) both.
- Worked with geographically and culturally disparate virtual project teams.
- Experience within an application development environment and with some awareness of infrastructure implications of application development.
- Experience of all phases of the development lifecycle e.g. analysis, design and testing.
- Experience in assisting business units to define business requirements.
- Experience in communicating business requirements to vendors.
- Organizational sensitivity i.e. able to recognize the effects of one's own decisions or activities on other people or parts of the organization.
- International orientation - prepared to travel internationally, work experience in an international context (preferable)
Desirable:
- Familiar with the RBS organisation in Asia.
Qualifications: What training or qualifications are required to do the job/role?
Essential:
- Trained in relevant Analysis, Design and Project Management disciplines
Desirable:
- Degree or Equivalent
Technical Competence: What are the specific skills/ style and abilities required of the job/ role?
Essential:
- Competent in the use of Microsoft utilities (Project, Viseo, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
- Competent in the use of IT tools and application relevant to the job
- Logical and Analytical.
- Excellent command of written / verbal business English.
