ISDA Master Agreement Documentation Associate recruitment
J.P. Morgan is a leading global investment bank with one of the largest client bases in the world.
The Master Agreements Solutions Team (AXJ MASTER) has recently been established with a mandate to provide support to the Asia Pacific Global Emerging Markets and Global Corporate Bank business groups for the negotiation and execution of derivatives Master Agreements.
A position within the AXJ MASTER team, covering the Fixed Income business of JPMorgan in the APAC (ex-Japan) region, exists for a mid-level to senior legal derivatives documentation professional negotiatior covering a wide range of clients across a number of jurisdictions.
Role Description
As an Associate you will be responsible for the following functions:
- Become a central point of contact for the sales teams (and other stakeholders) throughout the ISDA negotiation lifecycle - from inception to execution
- Coordinate with Clients on the negotiation of draft documents (where required with Business or legal depending on the client sensitivity and jurisdiction).
- Identify issues and co-ordinate with the relevant functions internally (eg: credit, tax, collateral management, business, legal, client on boarding, etc) for prompt resolution on disputed points within set time-frame parameters
- Explain provisions and obtain approvals/waivers/sign-off from business and relevant stakeholders on any concessions to standard policy/approach and proposed amendments to the Schedule
- Assist to establish controlled priorities across the business teams to ensure efficient use of legal resource
- Continuously monitor and update stakeholders on negotiation progress (including preparation for weekly meetings)
Skills
- Minimum of 2-3 yrs proven experience in negotiation of Derivatives Master Agreements and other trade related documentation gained within Investment Banking / Law Firm environment in the Asia Pacific region
- An excellent understanding of the ISDA Master Agreement mechanics.
- NAFMII experience an advantage
- Proven track record of covering a wide range of clients with good understanding of regional issues
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Mandarin (simplified Chinese) is an advantage
- Ability to multi-task, identify priority issues and excellent execution mentality
- Have strong teamwork approach. Equally importantly is the ability to execute independently
