IT Administrator Job in Ayer 01432, Massachusetts US

L-3 Maritime Systems has locations in Newburyport and Ayer, Massachusetts, Leesburg, Virginia and New Orleans, LA.  Our core business is communication, navigation and control systems for Navy ships, including Integrated Voice Systems (telephone, intercom, announcing, radio, wire free, etc.), Ship Control and Integrated Bridge Systems, Computerized Information Systems and Machinery Control Systems. We utilize the latest commercial technology and apply it to the unique applications that exist on Navy ships.  We are currently looking for an experienced IT Administrator for our Ayer, MA, location.

 

The ideal candidate will possess excellent Desktop and Server Troubleshooting Skills, a good working knowledge of TCP/IP Networking (DNS, DHCP and WINS) and a thorough understanding of the day-to-day operations of Active Directory, Group Policy and Exchange 2003. He/she will also have demonstrated a high level of self-direction, motivation and interpersonal skills, and be responsible for the trouble-free day to day operation of the organization's Server and Desktop Computing environment consisting of 20+ Servers and 125+ End-users.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Overall End-user support for Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Desktop Products and other end-user productivity applications
  2. Logging and monitoring Help Desk Tickets in the IT SharePoint Site.
  3. Daily administration of  Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange 2003 and Outlook Web Access to support the organization
  4. Administration and maintenance of the Costpoint ERP System
  5. Monitoring the health of the Servers, Network Switches and Firewalls
  6. Monitoring Firewall and System Event Logs for security events
  7. Keeping all systems up to date with the latest security patches, anti-virus and malware definitions
  8. Performing Desktop, Laptop and Server Maintenance
  9. Managing the Network Infrastructure up to the Wide Area Network
  10. Managing the Network Printing Infrastructure
  11. Managing IT Resources and Service Contracts
  12. Ensuring consistent data protection in a Backup Exec Environment
  13. Performing Moves, Adds and Changes on a Nortel Meridian PBX and Call Pilot Voicemail System
  14. Documenting IT Processes and Procedures
  15. Developing Hardware and Software Configurations with Best Practices in mind
  16. Developing Desktop and Laptop Images for deployment via Ghostcast Server
  17. Supporting IT requirements for Company Presentations and Functions

 

This position is also responsible for maintaining the Company’s IT Documentation, Business Continuity Plan, Sarbanes-Oxley Documentation, Software Licensing Compliance and future requirements as needed

 

The IT Administrator is on-call and is required to carry a pager or mobile device. Off-hours and weekend work as required to support the organization.  Minimal travel required.

Background, Education and Experience Required:

 

1.         Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent.

 

2.         Training and 5 -10 years experience administering Windows NT,    

Windows95, MSExchange, MSOffice

 

3.         Training and 2-3 years experience working with TCP/IP architecture.

 

4.         2-3 years experience maintaining a Windows NT network of 50+ users.
