Due to our rapid growth we are recruiting for the following positions:

IT Application Engineer

Reporting to the IT Support Manager, manages the day to day needs of a production lab environment.  Provides complete critical IT support for production level laboratory staff as well as external users including clients as needed.

 

·         Continuously monitors and evaluates local infrastructure.

·         Installs, upgrades, and maintains laptops, desktops, and servers.

·         Manages network switches and cabling as needed.

·         Researches, procures, installs, configures, analyzes, and debugs peripherals such as printers, scanners, barcode scanners, pointing devices, keyboards, PDAs, and flash drives.

·         Installs, configures and maintains Windows XP Pro, Win7, and Server 2010.

·         Maintains the LIS for the production lab including reporting needs of end users.

·         Supports the result delivery needs for the LIS- faxing, encrypted email and portal.

·         Maintains system backups on a regular basis, using hardware and software solutions.

·         Insures departmental and individual adherence to HIPAA security standards.

·         Exchange 2010 administration.

·         Implements Virtual Private Network (VPN) for employees who work remotely and provides remote support services.

·         Performs diagnostics and resolves networking, hardware, and software problems.

·         Maintains an accurate and up to date inventory of departmental hardware and software.

·         Manages administration of local phone switch, handsets and voicemail server.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 3-5 years related experience required. .Previous start-up or Lab Services experience preferred.

Additional qualifications include:

·         Proven knowledge of PC hardware components, compatibility, and installation techniques.    

·         Experience with computer peripheral setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.          

·         Advanced knowledge of system administration techniques.      

·         Proven knowledge of common network and authentication protocols/technologies such as TCP/IP, NAT, VPN, LDAP, Microsoft Active Directory, NAS, etc.       

·         Familiarity with server operating systems sufficient to interpret and troubleshoot issues.        

·         Proven experience in installing, configuring, and updating application software.           

·         Knowledge of computer security principles, practices, and tools.          

·         Knowledge of software and hardware virtualization technologies and techniques.        

·         Knowledge of backup policies, practices, and technologies.      

·         Excellent oral and written communication skills and Ability to interact with diverse personalities using tact and diplomacy.

·         Proven ability to clearly communicate technical information to non-technical users.

·         Ability to synthesize non-technical user requirements into clear and concise technical specifications.            

·         Proven ability to work effectively and efficiently with a large volume of work under pressure with interruptions, deadlines, and short lead times.

·         Ability to work on an independent and self-motivated basis with minimal supervision.

·         Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate responsibility to maximize productivity
