IT Application Support Analyst
Market Operations Division (MOD) performs a vital role for Macquarie Group managing group and client assets. MOD is responsible for the operational infrastructure required to support the settlement of a variety of financial and physical products on behalf of Macquarie. The team works in a time sensitive environment in which accuracy of processing, timely escalation and communication within the division, the businesses, the Risk Management Group, correspondent banks and custodians is essential to ensuring a smooth settlement process. We currently have an excellent role for a support analyst to join the IT division based in Sydney.
In this role you will provide effective first and second level support for MOD applications, both in-house and vendor-supplied. You will be part of an established application support desk in HK; and collectively with other support desks in Sydney, Manila, London, Houston and New York, form a global "follow the sun" model. You will escalate problems to and follow up with the development teams based in Sydney, Hong Kong and Manila, as required.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Ad-hoc troubleshooting and support for user queries system issues
- Extensive interaction with the associated development teams and other support desks
- Considerable involvement with customers to understand their problems and requirements
- Sending communication out to end users about incidents and problems
- Managing small projects on a day to day basis
- Ongoing support of trading and clearing systems
- Troubleshooting database issues
- Coordinating DR / BCP testing and liaising with local and remote infrastructure personnel
- Contributing ideas and solutions towards improving team processes
Ideally you will:
- Experience in the finance industry or similar high-demand IT operation models
- Experience in back office financial services technology including back middle office platforms
- Strong working knowledge of derivative equities products and an understanding of the trade life cycle.
- Experience in fast paced working environments.
- Display strong customer service focus and the ability to deliver quality support
- Bring good communication skills along with a strong customer service focus
- Strong self-motivation, and the ability work well both independently and as part of a wider team
- Able to multi-task and have excellent time management prioritisation skills
- Fluent in both spoken and written English
- A strong appreciation of key business drivers and the importance of a successful business/IT relationship
- Perform well under pressure and provide timely and accurate solutions to systems problems
Demonstrate good problem solving skills with a focus on incident resolution and root causes remediation
Technical requirements:
- University degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent
- Strong relational database experience (ideally Sybase or Oracle)
- Good working knowledge of UNIX (ideally Solaris 10)
- Strong SQL experience
Technical desirables:
- Experience of MQ Series, WebMethods and vendor applications TLM Recs or Calypso
