IT Applications Analyst recruitment

Key Responsibilities    

Application support
•    Providing first/second line support for user issues
•    Ensuring production systems are fully operational
•    Responding to user queries and providing advice on the use of the systems
•    Escalating issues requiring developer/analyst input as appropriate
•    Maintain system data such as quotes, holiday schedules, user accounts and permissions
•    Identify and document processes used to resolve recurring issues

Vendor management
•    Ensuring fixes and workarounds are provided from the software provider within SLA agreements
•    Monitor, coordinate, and communicate progress on the resolution of issues
 

Release management
•    Testing of bug fixes to ensure they resolve the original issue
•    Support the Release Management to live servers, liaising with infrastructure team and business users
•    Communication of new functionality to users

Flexibility on working hours is essential; some out of hours work will be required where needed to meet the business needs.

Essential
Educated to degree level (2:1 level or equivalent) in a numerate subject
2+ years experience in either an IT Business Application Support or a Commodities Trading environment

•    Candidates from an Application Support background should be able to demonstrate the following
o    Familiarity with standard support processes such as incident and issue management
o    A basic understanding of Release Management
o    Responsibility for live systems
o    Exposure to problem tracking systems
o    Experience of working in a high volume, time critical, environment
o    Ability to handle customers with different levels of technical and business knowledge

•    Candidates from a Commodities Trading environment should be able to demonstrate the following
o    Understanding of different functions within the business
o    Familiarity with the full trade cycle
o    An ability to describe standard instruments and how they are traded
o    A basic familiarity with forward curves

Desirable
Basic technical knowledge in some of the following areas :
o    SQL
o    IT architecture
o    Database structures
o    XML
o    Business Objects
o    QlikView

Experience of testing bug fixes and patch releases.
Management of new releases through UAT and into the production environment
Documentation of issues and workarounds
Process design and implementation
