IT Applications Architect – UHG IT

This hands on IT Applications Architect role will engage in the analysis, development, specification and communication of the on-going design patterns practice.
 
Specifically, candidate should have 8+ years of experience developing, architecting, deploying, and supporting computing applications in a large-scale enterprise environment. This position needed to support critical Design Pattern initiatives such as the newly started Operational Patterns. Requires proven experience with applications development and distributed systems in highly complex environment, and identifying design pattern opportunities for creation and adoption.
 
Responsibilities to include:
-Demonstrated proficiency in designing heterogeneous distributed applications (our definition of heterogeneous applications are those in which multiple operating systems, languages and computing platforms integrate)
-Ability to understand the 'big picture' and relate it to the current state but to also be hands on.
-Demonstrated ability to research new technologies and products
-Excellent consultative and communication skills
-Experience with a majority/variety of the following technologies: Service Oriented Architecture, web services, IIOP, IBM RAD, J2E, JAVA, .NET/Visual Studio, WebSphere Application Server, Internet Technologies (SSL/TLS, HTTP), Web Servers (IHS, iPlanet, Apache or Microsoft), RDBMS, ODBMS, LDAP, third party object class libraries, RPC, EJB
 

 -Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
 
- Requires overall IT experience of 8 years or more as an Applications Architect/Senior Developer.
- Requires 4 or more years as an IT Applications Architect  creating application and infrastructure architectures.
- Requires 4 or more years of software development experience working with Java and/or .Net in a large-scale distributed environment.
-Strong working knowledge of popular frameworks including Spring, Spring WebFlow, STRUTS, and other packages
-Strong working knowledge of Service Oriented Architecture topics and techniques
-Prior experience in application development including full life cycle activities
-Ability to work with and mentor CxO level individuals to developers
-Ability to discover and define technical requirements and their relationship to functional requirements and to determine the adequacy of documented requirements for architecture definition
 
Preferred Qualifications: 
 
-Extensive expertise in enterprise architectural components and interfaces and their applications. Portal Technologies (JSR-168, JSR-286, Security, Content Management, Search) Application integration protocols (SOAP, WSDL, XSD, XSL). Client technologies (HTML DHTML, XML), SaaS/Cloud related technologies (multi-tenancy, metering, data segmentation, etc.)
-Ability to lead multiple groups through an architectural development process and collaborate with the application development groups, architects and other professionals
