IT Asset Manager Job in Chicago, Illinois US
We are seeking an experienced IT Asset Manager to oversee hardware, software and telecom assets
as well as to ensure completion of projects within established time frames.
Education Requirements
College degree, preferably in Computer Science.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
Knowledge and Skills
· Strong knowledge of software licensing and IT contract language.
• Must have the ability to negotiate with vendors to obtain accurate and fair pricing.
• Must have the ability to interview all levels of staff within the user community to determine asset requirements.
• Must have experience working with copyright law, contractual language.
• Ability to analyze, diagnose, design, plan, execute and evaluate work to time, cost and quality targets.
• Ability to analyze business requirements and advise executive management on options for operational improvement.
• Knowledgeable in asset life-cycle processes and procedures.
• Proficient in defining project scope, identifying requirements and applying systems integration and data management skills.
Responsibilities:
1. Negotiates with vendors and manages all IS contracts.
2. Manage the IS asset database and oversee ongoing improvement and completeness of that database along with its processes.
3. Compiles, maintains and shares accurate IS inventory and usage data.
4. Develops or assists in strategic plans for IS equipment updates as a result of changes in business requirements and equipment obsolescence.
5. Ensures accuracy in PO and invoicing data for IS vendors.
6. Responsible for the tracking of all assets in the overseas offices.
7. Responsible for updating, tracking, reporting and overall stewardship of the hardware and software maintenance section of the IS budget.
8. Responsible for keeping the plans in the disaster recovery system up to date.
9. Server, workstation network device capacity measurements and capacity planning
Prior Experience
Three to five years prior experience in the asset management field, preferably in a global organization with exposure to inventory control, contract negotiations and requirements gathering.
Minimum 5 years relevant information technology experience/asset management.
