Salary: £18000 - £25000 (dependent upon experience)
Our Client a well established IT Support business is looking for a highly experienced IT Engineer to undertake a consultative client facing, problem solving position. The successful IT Engineer will have excellent interpersonal skills and have an good sense of pace and energy as well as competency within his/ her field.
Although being Microsoft certified is desirable it is not essential and it is imperative that even if the IT Engineer has this qualification, it is backed up with practical experience as opposed to the theoretical exam.
Although office based the IT Engineer will spend between 5 and 6 hours every day on a clients base which are all within the local area. You will be proactive on behalf of that client as well as having to fire fight on the odd occasion as expected within this industry. Most of the Clients’ are public sector and schools so if you have previous experience of handling schools as part of your client base in a previous role, this would be of huge benefit.
It is essential you are CRB checked or at least prepared to start this process as soon as you apply for the role.
The responsibilities will include:
Experience of Microsoft Windows based networks
Ability to install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows based network operating systems
Experience of PC based hardware
Evidence of the ability to learn new operating systems
Desirable
Experience of other operating systems like Linux, Unix, Macintosh etc.
An understanding of computer networking
An understanding of the educational sector environment
An ability to relate to users in a sympathetic and helpful manner
