IT Engineer (Server, VMware and Network Administrator) Job in Birmingham 35243, Alabama US

Slappey Communications is an established leader in the Telecommunications and IT industry that has grown to become a total solutions and service provider in the Birmingham area. 

 

We are searching for an IT Engineer to add to our technical team.  This position will be involved in all aspects of design, engineering, implementation, and operations virtualization, servers, networks, and related equipment.  The successful candidate understands the best business practices for VMware and Microsoft and how to implement them in a small business environment (how to take enterprise concepts to the small businesses we service).  This position supports the mission of the company by demonstrating the “get it done” mentality by being a creative problem solver with strong hands on leadership.

 

 

COMPETENCIES:

·         MCITP Certification is required.

·         Must be able to design and implement VMware (including VMware View), Microsoft, and networking systems from scratch

·         Must be able to service customers in the field including Installation and troubleshooting

·         Must be able to effectively communicate technology solution to the team

·         Has a solid understanding of Cloud computing and how to effectively leverage it in a small business environment (many of our customers)

·         Able to troubleshoot and maintain WAN network solutions

 

A SUCCESSFUL IT ENGINEER WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:

·         Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or equivalent professional experience

·         Three to five years of Technical experience

·         The ability to organize time and prioritize numerous duties within strict deadlines

·         Enjoys staying current on the latest in the technology industry

·         Team player mentality and respects authority

·         Strong values and ethics

·         Professional written and verbal communication skills
