PR Newswire has an immediate opening for a Senior Financial Analyst within its Management Information Systems (MIS) department. Areas of responsibilities are procurement activities for all of information technology teams, governance of delivery of all vendor provided product services and maintain an audit worthy oversight over all related financial transactions. Under the direction of Vice President of MIS, this individual will provide support to Information Technology, Product Development, MIS and Finance teams in key operational and strategic decisions. Such support includes, but is not limited to, daily financial accounting tasks and partnering with accounting and informational technology departments to determine IT capital needs, providing financial oversight of internal IT capital projects, ensuring proper policy adherence exists, and taking ownership of asset inventory and purchasing requests process. Key focus is on quantitative and qualitative analysis and reporting on the financial and operational performance of procurement and governance activities. This position must be able to identify business and financial process improvement opportunities and recommend/implement action plans. The Senior Financial Analyst will develop, interpret, and implement financial tools and concepts for evaluating major procurement categories and functions. This role will perform technical analysis to identify improvement opportunities, help determine present and future financial performance and will gather, analyze, prepare, and summarize recommendations. This individual may work independently or as a part of a project team and consulting frequently with appropriate managers across departments. Given the concentration and focus on Information Technology infrastructure, this position requires proven experience in a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) type of business. Prior experience in a managed-hosting environment is highly desirable. Note: This position requires a minimum of 5 years direct experience in procurement and governance as senior financial analyst. Responsibilities: bull; Provide analytical support in the development and execution of monthly, quarterly and annual business/financial reporting with variance and trend across all procurement activities. Highlight any deviation from budget and identify any risk areas. bull; Develop financial models, programs and methodologies for analyzing and presenting data. Support development of metrics for strategic tracking and monitoring. bull; Verify data for accuracy and completeness; identify gaps and drive resolution of data errors, track and monitor for completion. Identify systemic issues and continually improve processes. bull; Able to project manage, structure and execute analyses independently and as appropriate, work with analysts from other departments. Analyze results for progress against planned objectives. bull; Assist in responding to urgent ad hoc and routine requests to meet the information requirements of senior leaders for critical financial or operational decisions. bull; Play an active role in the development of IT budgets and quarterly forecasts. Provide budget analysis and support to the IT department. Assist IT staff with understanding basic budgetary and forecasting concepts. bull; Assist in the implementation of the monthly budget forecasting process, which results in the preparation of a monthly IT financial statement. bull; Design and implement budget monitoring processes and tools to ensure all invoices are appropriate, assigned to the right projects/accounts and that they are routed for proper approval. bull; Monitor capitalization of software development tasks to ensure proper accounting treatment. bull; Conduct monthly finance meetings with cost center owners, reviewing financial results vs. plan and forecast. bull; Problem solve with groups while dealing with a variety of variables in situations where no standardization exists. bull; Collaborate with cross-functional teams (business, finance, legal, IT) to develop sourcing strategies on a domestic, regional or global basis as appropriate. bull; Keep track of licenses and contracts at all times. Exposure to Oracle EBS and procurement module is a plus. bull; Broad based experience required in contracting and strategic procurement of information technology services covering hosting, hardware, software and people. bull; Demonstrable knowledge of cost and price analysis techniques, proposal/contracting skills, project management, business management and strategic thinking that right-sizes every request for resources to an appropriate level of expense. bull; Proven experience in cost reduction and process improvement is an ongoing requirement. bull; Financial modeling skills are required. Statistical knowledge a plus. bull; Experience in deploying an IT Asset management system is highly desired; e.g. SAManage. bull; 5+ years of financial analysis experience is needed. Strong foundation in IT preferred. bull; Bachelor degree in Business Management, Finance or Accounting preferred.
