IT Infrastructure Support Engineer
This is a rapidly growing Finance Provider and the role requires an individual possessing drive and energy to support the IT Infrastructure team.
About the Role
The purpose of this hands-on role is to lead the Support Engineers in their day to day activities and maintain the IT platforms. The candidate will support the IT Infrastructure Manager in maintaining the service level agreements of the corporate IT assets to meet the departmental objectives. In addition, the role requires the management and liaison with internal and external engineering resources for strategic support and deployment of new solutions across the IT department.
Key Skills and Technologies
- Minimum 10+ years experience in systems/administrator engineering roles
- Server administration for LINUX (RHEL) 4.5 5.x
- Experience with SAN/NAS storage (NetApp preferred or similar enterprise platforms)
- Experience working with Oracle database and Oracle Weblogic technologies
- Experience with system monitoring tools in a virtualised environment
- Experience with SNMP tools and Java related application monitoring tools
- Experience with desktop virtualisation (Citrix VMware)
- Configuration of new servers in a virtualised server environment (VMware, OVM Citrix)
- Ability to design and administer services templates (processing, storage, networking platforms)
- Capability to manage and maintain up-to-date inventory and asset register (CMDB)
- Provide design and implementation capabilities for systems solutions needed for the business
- Provide excellent communication and work with global, off-shore and 3rd party support groups to provide state of the art solutions to meet our business needs.
- Ability to identify systems failures and manage fault resolution and escalation procedures
- Have a full understanding of Data Centre hardware facility components
(e.g., servers, networks, tape drives, I/O subsystems, UPS, etc.) - Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic and problem solving skills.
- Excellent customer rapport and interpersonal skills.
- Experience supporting Java based and Web based applications
- Ability to planning, manage and implement IT systems and improvement projects
- Ability to resolve conflicts in regards to prioritisation, compliance and resourcing
Desirables
- Windows server 2003/2008 administration
- Working knowledge of Solaris 10
- Solar Winds, Hyperic
