Role:- IT Infrastructure Manager Location: North Wales Salary: To £44K + bonus + bens Start: ASAP Duration: Permanent Main Job Purpose: The Enterprise Hosting Discipline Manager will be responsible for managing the Windows Server, SQL Server Citrix environments that provide services to Europe. This comprises a wide range of computing services to around 50,000 users on over 100 sites across Europe on a 7-day/24-hour basis. Enterprise Hosting is an essential function for the successful operation of, and the secure access to key data and information underpinning all business processes and activities across Europe. Key Accountabilities: • Management of teams of technical specialists (typically 1 to 3 teams of 5 to 15 members). To include the recruitment of new members, the initial and ongoing technical skills training and development programmes, quality assurance of the team's work, regular analysis and reporting of the team's activities, regular performance appraisals of team members. • To provide technical operational support to Enterprise Hosting, ensuring that service affecting (or service threatening) operational difficulties are resolved promptly. • To monitor the performance and characteristics of operational systems, and make any necessary adjustments so as to improve their efficiency and effectiveness. Recommend appropriate remedial actions to maintain performance at the agreed levels for Incidents, Problems and Requests. • Analyse the operational performance of their team(s) using information from available sources, such as Time Recording and Remedy databases, identify any shortcomings, propose and implement changes to improve individual and team performance. Provide monthly reports on team(s) performance against agreed Key Performance Indicators and ensure teams are aware of their own performance and that of other teams within Enterprise Computing • Plan the resources, skills and the activities of their team in the light of anticipated customer demands and operational projects to ensure sufficient resources and skills are available, taking into account holidays, training, sickness, and ensure that customer priorities are met. • Ensure that the enhancements, extensions and maintenance upgrades to the system environments are implemented in line with agreed plans and timetables, whilst maintaining the agreed levels of service to customers. • Acts as deputy to Enterprise Hosting Personal Profile: • Strong people management skills and experience in order to motivate and control a team of highly skilled technical specialists. • Ability to gain a good technical understanding of any issues raised, in order to personally identify opportunities for enhancement of the environment, and to assess proposals arising from the team and from others. • Strong customer service focus to keep the customers' requirements constantly to the forefront, and to ensure that the activities of the team align closely with these requirements. • Strong commitment to quality assurance processes, especially change control, in order to maintain the highest levels of operational service and availability of the systems software environment. • Ability to self-manage and lead team members through periods of significant change. • Mastery of Service Management processes and best practices (ITIL) would be an advantage Skills/ Experience/ Qualifications: Functional Skills: Working Knowledge of: Process and Structural Change Support, IT Fluency Development, Information and Knowledge Management, Data Management, Applications Delivery, IT Policy Framework, Project Risk Management Fully Operational in: Infrastructure Planning and Implementation, Operations and Services Management, Service Management (ITIL) General Skills: Working Knowledge of: Project Management, Business Strategy Formulation, Business Process Design and Management, Business Planning and Implementation, Information Management Fully Operational in: Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Application and Exploitation of IT Key Interfaces The incumbent will require close working relationships with: • HP, IBM, Microsoft, SAP and Oracle as strategic vendors • Europe IT team managers and their staff. • Service Delivery managers: Regional and MCO • Application Maintenance and Development (Accenture) • Strategy Planning, Innovation and other IT functions • Manage interface between hardware, software vendors and third party specialists Technical Skills: Required to have a strong technical understanding in the following areas Windows Server Management • Windows NT, 2000, 2003, 2008 • WINS, DNS, Active Directory, DHCP, Clustering • System monitoring • Performance tuning • Virtualization: Hyper-V • Operating system deployment, software installation and configuration • Data security and backup. SQL Server Management • SQL Server 7, 2000 2005 • knowledge of DBA role - including install, database creation, DB administration, backup, recovery, tuning and security • Upgrades and applying service Packs • Legato Networker Module for backups • Windows clustering knowledge Citrix Server Management • Citrix PS4 Xenapp6 • Citrix Secure Gateway • Application Streaming • Application Packaging
